The cost price to Noel Leemings is about $135. Agree that they are great value.

I bought a second tivo at the sale price and finally checked it tonight. Well I got a big surprise it works well and so does the remote.  The first Tivo I bought from Bond and Bond and I got it home and see it had been opend and taped up.  All worked well except the remote refused to work.  I took the remote back and they swapped it over. Got home and that remote never worked.  So I checked with Logitech and found my Harmony 525 would work.  So now this new unit works, I now know I had 2 faulty remotes/
Even so they are a great buy and highly recommend them at the price

You didn't by any chance do the same stupid thing I did and put the batteries in the wrong way round in the remote did you? Took me ages to realise it wasn't broken.

nah batteries correct and the only button that worked on both remotes was the tivo button.  Nothing else worked.  Only problem is now with the working remote on the new tivo, I dont like it, I have gotten used to the harmony remote

I like the tivo remote, you do get used to it. But ideally it needs the select button in the middle of the direction keypad, like it is on the harmony. Also the pause and play buttons should be reversed.

Got my two TiVos and set them up today. $199 each (turns out the cost price is about $173). The Home Network package also went back on sale today so I'm a happy chappy.

on the first one with faulty remote it wouldnt work out of the box.  The remote was set to unit 1 and i did try it in unit 2 position as well.  The replacement remote from Bond and Bond was the same no go, only the Tivo button would work none of the others, didnt matter what position the switch was in.   So I have been using the Logitech Harmony. Harmony is even backlit.

Now its a couple of months later and I have bought a second Tivo, this time from Noelleeming and the remote works well on that one and I tried it on the original Tivo and it works well on that also

Out of the box both codes (switch position 1 and 2) are set to 0, which will control any TiVo even if the TiVo has been programed to another code. You can make sure by holding down TiVo and Select buttons for 3 seconds until the LED remains lit, then press the 0 button.

Same procedure if you want to program some other code. To program the TiVo you can just got to the system information screen and press any button on the coded remote. Obviously if you only have one remote, you will want to go to the information screen before setting the code to something other than 0.

We though one of our TiVos was faulty as it would not repsond to the remote, even though our other TiVo (in the same room) and the TV responded fine. Turns out it was the selection switch that was faulty, stuck on position 1 (programmed to code 1). Most likely due to being in a child's mouth.

That sounds very odd to get two dead remotes, but that could be the reason why it was open, becuase someone had previously returned it. You should be able to switch the faulty one with tivo though if you contact tivo support. They are worth about $50

I had a faulty remote too :( None of the buttons at the top would work unless you pressed them about 10 times. Called Noel Leeming and they also swapped the remote with one from a tivo unit a customer had returned for other reasons. Will try it when I get home tonight but wow... these remotes must be poorly made, huh?  They originally wanted me to bring in the whole device.
