Um... why is there a NDA in place for the beta version of the update? is that just incase it mucks stuff up on the TIvo's & basically doesn't work that people can't slander them for it. Or for another reason?

Can't wait for the new update. Had to teach my partner (who never uses the Tivo) to retune the channels every day while I am away. I have to remind him. I have been retuning daily for just over 6 months now. Very frustrating. Especially when you go away as if there is no one at home there is no way to retune.

I think that I will just wait for the update to be pushed out.

If there's another reason (a new feature for example) then people under NDA won't post here...

Oh I meant in general about the NDA in which you answered being that there maybe a new product that they want to test. I think that I was just thinking that the update was only to include a fix for the deleting channel issue. But thats good news if they may have something new out. Think that I will still wait for a bit as yes, I have been a wee bit patient. So used to it now. will probably keep trying to do it noce it is fixed :-D

I live just out of Invercargill and we have only got Freeveiw HD around 6 months ago. This problem has been happening ever since it was introduced down there. No issues when living in the Manawatu. Not sure if they have the issue up there now.

Hopefully if there is new stuff that there will be something "amazing" to make up for the rescanning issue. :-D

Fingers crossed ..

Hi all... I'm a very longtime lurker on these forums, and have picked up many valuable tips along the way.  Time now maybe to start offering my 2c back.

Among the valuable tips I've picked up was the solution earlier in this thread to my Tivo rescanning issue, which I had every single day without fail since I bought the thing.  I live in New Plymouth, which was another area new to Freeview HD UHF for the Rugby World Cup.  The only way to avoid having to rescan was if I remembered to turn it off at the wall each night, which obviously affected the EPG update.

I signed up for the field trials for this beta software late December last year, and I don't think I'm breaching any NDA if I simply say that I'm extremely happy that I did so.  I'd encourage anyone experiencing the same issue to do the same thing, using the email address provided earlier by alienwithin.

I've not noticed myself that there's any other change except for the fix for the rescan issue.

It takes a few days for the Tivo techs in Oz and in the USA to sort things out to get the software sent to your machine - but I simply can't see them sending it out to every machine in NZ unless you ask for it - at least not in the near future.

You're way more patient than I was as well Floppie... but I really think that unless you push them for the upgrade - you won't see it as soon as you're hoping to.

Thanks for the advice Peg. I emailed them a couple of months after my issues started as I thought that it was the issues around the introduction of Freeveiw HD in my region, (when you could still register your issues via the website) and they told me that they were aware of the issue and working on a fix. I think that I keep thinking that it will be just around the corner.

I record ALOT of tv and therefore if I miss a rescan in the morning, I can lose a whole night of tv programs.

I think that I will take your advice and see if they will push the software to my machine. We have wireless broadband (like satellite) at home which is pretty slow so heres hoping that it won't take much to push it out. That was probably my main reason for waiting.

This topic here on Geekzone has been extremely helpful but I have noticed a lot less comments around continuing issues as I think that most people are taking the option to ask for the software. :-)

there are quite a few bug fixes in the beta software which fixed, at least for me, a few issues around speed of transfering programs between tivo's and the between the computer

I'd be happy with some software that can handle recording overlapping shows on the same tuner properly.

If they can fix that the product would be absolutely perfect!

Just contacted Tivo Support. They put me onto the testing people who replied saying that the software should be rolling out to NZ Tivo users next week. I should be able to wait one more week.

I'm having this problem too. Bought the Tivo a couple of weeks ago & has been great but the last two days in a row I've had to retune each morning and it wiped my season passes so had to redo those too.
Not good..... need update now!

Yep it does get annoying when channels are wiped everyday and then you have to rescan. Still, by the sounds of it, a fix isn't too far away.

Yes, still happening to me every day. Finally got around to contacting them about it again and they said that they are planning to roll out the new software from Monday to NZ Tivo's. They gave me the option of going on the trial but i thought, oh well, what is one more week going to hurt. This has only been happening for 6+ months

the update does fix it, I have been running the beta for a while without the problem of channels being deleted.  actually many people can be bothered because when you compare tivo to what else is out there, tivo is far better.
