Got a bit of a strange problem.

We have 2 tivo's, both connected to the home network via wired ethernet.

one of the Tivo's every few days falls off the network, i've changed the cables, changed the port it's plugged in to on the router.

Typically by restarting the router it re-appears on the network, I've been looking at blaming the router so today when it had gone again from the network, I logged in to the router in admin mode, I noticed when looking at the DHCP lease page the both the tivo's were listed, but one of them had an expired lease

So what do I blame here, the router for not dishing out a new lease or the tivo?

It's kind of strange, but the other tivo has absolutely no problem in obtaining a new lease.

why dont you just make the lease permanent, or 999 days?

surely you havent got more than 254 devices obtaining IP addresses on your home network?

It's hard to tell based on how DHCP is negotiated,

Can you set an IP address manually in the TiVO and/or can you statically assign an IP address via DHCP to the TiVO in question, either option may help you.

I figured that making the lease time really big is the solution, although it doesn't fix the problem it will stop the tivo from falling off the network

One of "vodafone" branded, it's unlikely the router as I have a 2nd tivo on the same router with no problems, I can swap the lan ports between tivo's and the problem stays with the same tivo
