hi there does any one know a way around a issue im having with a tivo i got off trademe it seems the person has not deactivated it like they said,so when i try to activate it myself the mytivo site says if cant and wont activate,i cant seem to make contact with the guy i brought it off,so any help would be appreciated,thanks

I would suggest you contact tivo and explain the suitation. If it's still activated then it should still be fully functional. I would word an email to the person you brought it from, something to the effect that as they are still maitaning control over it by not de-activating it on-line then they haven't fully completed the sale and purchse transaction, and as such you will be making contact with trade me and making a formal complaint....... Also when you make contact with tivo, give then the auction number etc, contact details, tell them you have taken over ownership of this tivo, ask them to send a confirmation message to the tivo so you can provide the correct response to the message and get tivo to transfer their ownership records to you.

Hey thanks for the info,im going to do just that and see what comes of it,so it doesnt seem so hard to sort out then.

The seller is the one who should reset it, not Tivo. What if it is a stolen devce? I wouldn't like the idea of TiVo doing this... freitasm: The seller is the one who should reset it, not Tivo. What if it is a stolen devce? I wouldn't like the idea of TiVo doing this... I've kind of got that feeling as well, but at least making contact with tivo it gives them the chance to say no we have this device listed as stolen

Hi there no its not stolen he got it free on a contract with telecom,got his name and address on the tivo box,and i picked it up from his address so i know its not STOLEN(hes away on holiday at the moment so cant get hold of him) Freitasm your such a pessimist!

I am not a pessimist. I am being realist. There a lots of cases of stolen goods ending up on Trade Me. And I know of at least two cases of people offering goods even here on Geekzone without actually having them to supply. You did not give all the facts, so going for the evidence presented (bought on Trade Me, already registered, seller not responding to emails) then the logical conclusion is "stolen". Had you provided all this other information earlier on then we wouldn't get this idea.
