Also got one for $99 just before 5PM - refurbished unit with 90 days warranty.

Thank you to the previous posters for the alerts.

Edit: Uh-oh - no remote in the box! Have to go back there tomorrow.

They are refurb cause the boxes are already opened.
The staff told me it's a different batch from the one before. Went there after 5pm.

I'll give them a ring to make sure I was asking the price for the right stock.

Argh, can't get to MT Wellington. Anyone willing to pick one up for me, will pay cash via internet banking/pay pal?

Some cash for postage?

Or if anyone is on the shore and getting one can pay COD?

I just gave them a ring and the refurbs cost $149.
Their phone number is 276 7006 if anyone wants to verify.

We'll either they are misquoting you or they put the price up over night. As mentioned before I bought 2 of them for $99 each yesterday. Perhaps tell them you know of people who paid $99 yesterday.

I did think about that over the weekend. I was a bit nervous about having activation issues and issues with warranty. At least through a retailer I can take it back within 3 months and get my money back. The refurbed units that I got look brand new. Most of the cables, remotes etc. are all sealed and boxed up.

FYI I ran up one of my refurb units last night. All good. Looks like new, works fine - activated perfectly.

Will have to work out away to get over to Mt Wellington, would be in if it's $99.

I brought 1 yesterday at lunchtime - I checked my receipt (and I checked the box to make sure I had a remote!) and it said $299 with a discount of $200...

So maybe once the store got GZ'ed they decided to reduce the discount...

Nah, I've been checking since last week chasing on a Tivo box (initially after the $299 new ones). It was on Sat I found out that they were planning to release the refurb units this week. Even last sat they told me the price of the refurbs would be $99.

Just popped in on the way back from lunch.
Quite a few boxes there, no price stickers or display of price, so I took one up to the counter and asked how much. They said $149 - I mentioned that they were $99 yesterday and they said that was correct, but that was old stock and this is the new stock. They wouldn't sell to me for $99.

So the new ones aren't refurbs? They were selling brand new ones for $199 on special, so 25% off that for a refurb isn't the best deal, but then again there is nothing out there that compares to that value.

The ones I saw had all been opened/resealed and some with "worn" boxes
So I am dubious that that they were any different to the stock they had yesterday...
