Anyone here using a TiVO with only a shared 3G connection (i.e. using your phone as a WiFi hotspot to let TiVo get its EPG updates).

Whats your experience? If the TiVo is disconnected for say, 24 hours, and then its WiFi AP comes back online, will it instantly grab the EPG update? Or is it timed for a certain hour? Or random?

Ideally I would use Tasker to identify that the phone is in the house, with a strong WiFi signal (i.e. in the lounge), and if it had been more than 24 hours since last execution, turn on WiFi hotspot for TiVo to connect to, for say 10 minutes or whatever.

TiVo website says 5MB per month EPG updates, or 25-100MB per month for system updates. Has anyone measured this?
