Just tried to place a listing and it gave me an invalid username and password message between steps 3 and 4. I am using Safari without Flash installed so maybe something to do with that.

On the positive side the ability to add video to an auction will make the site a lot of fun and generate big talking points.

Wheedle is not vetting any listings so this could turn out badly but it is a nice idea and I wish them well with it.

Tel69: I'd almost bank my bottom dollar there is mysql in the background there.

Them trapping every error (including timeouts, SQL errors and internal server errors) with a standard 404 catch all message is really silly unless their back end logging is fantastic.

It's ASP.NET, so that's unlikely.

It must be quite embarrasing for the owners of Wheedle.

They where even running radio adverts this morning for a website which isn't working! What a waste of money.

Complete disconnect between product planners, marketing and technology people.

Whoever advised the owners failed miserably. The main problems I see are lack of security from the ground, and lack of proper testing before releasing a service.

was that in plain text? , doesn't matter anyway that is absolutely unforgivable, there should be press warnings about this site.

The site appears to now be offline for maintenance.... You know you're onto a winner if you've got an outage within 24 hours of going live.

Yes...AND they should be proactive about paying for those.
As Maurico outlined in his Blog, there's a greater issue here; that of people using the same login details on multiple sites.

If they were true to their name they'd Weedle their way into the media and wave a big warning flag on that issue alone..... done properly it'll earn them more respect than derision.
