Hi! I would like to introduce Affinity.Net.Nz, a new VPS/cloud hosting company that we have been working on for several months. Since there are often hosting requests/recommendations I would like to suggest you check us out if you want a cloud server hosted in New Zealand :D

A few key things we provide:

* Low-latency UNLIMITED New Zealand bandwidth!
* full root access to your own, persistent, Linux server
* simple point-and-click web interface with remote console and monitoring graphs
* high performance Linux KVM virtualisation stack, on high-end hardware
* integrated automatic server backups (additional service)

Performance and reliability is a priority for Affinity, as we pride ourselves on being able to handle Serious Business. To this end we have made some conscious decisions to ensure that we exceed all expectations and benchmarks:

* powered by 100% bespoke technology and IP, developed right-here in NZ
* utilise Linux open-source components to lower costs to clients
* make security and resilience to failure a pillar of our service, and not an afterthought
* quite simply, customer service and engineering support from a team that is passionate about what we do

If you or your organisation needs access to cloud hosting services or expertise then please check us out!

Of course, we would appreciate any suggestions and criticism you may have. Fire away. *ducks*

Not bad. Might need to check this out. 15GB of international data is slightly low but it would be ideal for a national VPS.

What sort of network speeds for international? I see unthrottled 1Gbps national. Surely it isn't the same internationally?

Hey Kingy,
We've had a rethink about our international data allowances and have increased them all, take another look :)

International is pretty quick too, but not as fast as national. Here's the speed we get to Australia:

$ wget http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/ubuntu-releases/12.10/ubuntu-12.10-desktop-amd64+mac.iso -O /dev/null
--2013-02-13 08:59:29-- http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/ubuntu-releases/12.10/ubuntu-12.10-desktop-amd64+mac.iso
Resolving ftp.iinet.net.au... 203.0.178.32
Connecting to ftp.iinet.net.au|203.0.178.32|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 792723456 (756M) [application/x-iso9660-image]
Saving to: ?/dev/null?

100%[======================================>] 792,723,456 28.2M/s in 30s

2013-02-13 08:59:59 (25.1 MB/s) - ?/dev/null? saved [792723456/792723456]

So that's ~225Mbps and it varies a bit from location to location.

Are you getting your international via Sitehost or FX directly?

We are colocated in the Orcon DC in Northcote. We acquire international transit from sitehost, looking to expand the mix in the future.
