Started this week, really enjoying it. We have just finished watching the Australian version.

I believe the houses are 74-80 Anzac St in Takapuna.

Mark Richardson is a pretty good choice for host.

Anyone else watching?

Yeah my wife and I both love these sort of shows. Especially b*tching about people who don't have a clue...

Haha I can think of two particular contestants that might fall into this category. Especially around ladder safety!

Which Aussie season was it?  Was it a new one and just played recently on Prime?

Hoping this series is good.  We loved the earlier ones in Auz, but the last one spent a long time away from the homes and was strange as the homes were being altered by builders with the contestants running around after them to finish off the rooms.  By contrast the actual block of flats type approach was much better.

Must be strange being a contestant, as given the chance I'd rather gut the place initially, cart all the crap away in a skip and paint the outside very early on.  I think the host is doing very well too by the way, enjoying it so far.

Jaxson: Ah that would be the NZ version.....

Was this a reply to my question?  If so, then the mattRSK clearly said they just recently finished watching the Australian version.  I wanted to know if it was a new series of the *Aussie* version that I might have missed.  I realise the NZ version just started on Prime.

I got a bit put off these types of thing when good friends of ours were on Dream Home. They had a great time, and are still living in their dream home, but seeing behind the scenes was a bit of an eye-opener.

The thing to remember is that it might look like a contest, but it isn't, its a TV show and the producers will rig it however they feel will get the best ratings.

It was season 5 based in Melbourne. It was the first time it hasn't been aired in New Zealand though which was a shame. I have the whole series if you want it.

Yes I am really enjoying it.  Went into it expecting to be disappointed, but now I'll be watching each week.

Nothing much happens on this show. They tell you what you are about to see, what you are seeing, and then afterwards what you have just seen....ah...Cos we are all quite dumb, with short attention spans i guess.

I have watched two hours so far where:  contestants had to find their cars, then drive to a Bunnings to complete challenges, then end up at the houses which were deliberately trashed by the producers. Sleep in their houses, deal with dirty dunnies ( a cheap shot on the part of the producers I thought to mess up the container facilities so bad to create a bit of jeopardy..) Not much actual DIY so far...

So why am I watching? Its a local show and there's a scarcity of them, so I thought I'd give it a go.

One big advertorial really, or should I say many advertorials pieced together.

not sure if you new, some contestants did not earn a cent due to housing market slump in melbourne

I watched the final and I would find that hard to believe.
