Hi all,

I was going to throw out my Sega Master System II today, but remembered there is an RCA mod you can do to it, and  though I would give it a go..

I've found a few guides, but they all use a drawing rather than photos..

ie; http://hackitup.tumblr.com/post/548848692/sms2videoaudiomods

I find those type of guides hard to follow, as I don't know if that is the bottom of the board, or the top of the board..

Does anyone know of any guides like this one (different chip): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJxBgH-zBVQ

My chip is the Sony CXA1145P.

Would be cool to try this out if its not too hard.

That diagram should be all you need.  The text says the chip is near the top of the board - should be close to the video output.

The alignment of the chip (and hence the pin numbering) is determined by the notch on one side.

Edit: Here's a picture of the PAL board - the chip is in hte middle, and the pins clearly labelled on the PCB:

Thanks mate.

That guide above looks very useful, I will have to check it out. I went out and bought 1x 75Ohm Resistor (but I didn't know what wattage to get lol) and 1x 220uF capacitor.

Hoping to try it out today.. not sure what will 'blow' if i do it wrong.. either the whole Sega unit, or just the resister/capacitor.

Hey thanks again for that video guide, it was perfect!

Just finished it now, and I didn't screw it up! just as well you posted that video too, because the guide I found had the audio output completely different!

My local JayCar didn't have a white RCA port, so I had to use black.

Very tidy job!

I did a vaguely similar mod on an old Xbox to add an RCA digital audio output and it was a pig of a job.

"You are" = "You're" - Not "Your".  "They are" = "They're" - Not "Their" or "There".  You probably mean "lose" not "loose".  There's no such word as "Alot".
