PPPoE not establishing, Compass are saying their management system in Auckland has gone down and is affecting all wireless connections nationwide. ETA of 1 hour :-) But I suspect thats a hopeful thinking as much as a accurate guess

Hi Guys, 

There is an issue with the Compass Wireless/Wired Country network.  It only occurs if the wireless CPE is power cycled.  I will try and get an update for you in the morning. 

The WiMax network is unaffected by this issue.

If you are unable to get any timeframe from Compass you could look at switching to one of the other providers who offer services via the wired country network.

Listings at http://www.nzconnections.net.nz/Internet_Plan_and_Pricing_Comparisons:_Wireless_plans

I am using the wired country network with another ISP and have had no problems.

Sorry for creating a duplicate thread earlier, I'd failed to find this one.

48 hours aster the fault happened, two clients of mine (one a school) have only just had service restored.

The school client was originally told service would be restored by 4pm Wednesday, then 6pm, then Thursday morning, then 4pm Thursday, then 6pm again......

Apologies for starting http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=42&topicid=77954 but i searched for compass and didnt find this thread at all. But i did add to the fault stats. Also as there was a section for 'wireless' thought i would be in there as it was a wireless service.

However the news is upon ringing them this morning it came online the a few moments after they actually took me off a 15min holding pattern and checked who i was.... weird or what. I hate it when that sort of thing happens.

Alls good now hopefully for another 6 months or so.

Can't wait to see what their business customer service rep will say when I talk to them.

Packing Shed, like all ISP's selling "Wired Country" are just reselling the Compass Wireless (ex Wired Country) service.  All provisioning and back haul etc is carried over on the Compass network.

Been down since Tuesday night. Connected through Vodafone. On 3G phone here right now.  The whole situation is a debacle.
 I rang 'help' at 940pm Tuesday. Called 2 or three times a day since then, oh but not after 5pm or at the weekends because apparently everyone goes home then ????!!!
 I've had a 'net connection for 17 years or so, and never has there been a six day (and counting) outage!
OK I will admit the wireless is quite reliable, but serious questions need to be asked over the lack of 'Plan B', backups, failsafes, contingency plans ...   hello ??

 'we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause........'  yeah right!

Thanks skyplonk. I assumed that back office was different. It has certainly "felt" more reliable since I swapped. I had better make sure I don't power down my cpe.....

Wireless customer down this morning, can't call 0800 number or Auckland number, their helpdesk seems to be offline completely. Does anyone know any more details?

I called the helpdesk on Friday. Seems they had to manually re-enter all their customer's into the system to allow them to re-connect. When I pressed for a time that I would be reconnected, he put me on hold and got me reconnected on the spot!

Hi everyone. Just confirming that some of our Wireless customers have had an outage. This has affected their internet and phone connection. We are working on restoring all services. (In the meantime, you can also try turning off your installed equipment. Wait 30 secs then re-power it back on). This continues to be our top priority. We do sincerely apologise for this inconvenience. Feel free to also email me and I'll see what I can do.

day eight with no connection. Called compass direct.. Who were in the process of getting me connected, until they realised I was a customer through vodafone. All help stopped and i was told to call Vodafone. Aaaaarrrrrrghhh!! Thanks for nuthin'
So called vodafone , usual blame game, no update on situation thete. Same old line from them...."we'll get to the bottom of this", we apologise for any inconvienience" "we'll call you back..."
Absolutely no further ahead than a week ago.
