Finally, the wait is over!

http://www.viber.com/android-techcrunch/

Although it is beta at the moment. Works perfectly on the HTC Desire HD.

It works flawlessly, however, doesn't integrate into the "People" list. Must open up Viber app to see who is available and online.

You can leave it running in the background and it uses only ~2mb of memory. not sure what the effect on battery life is like.

OK have installed it for just under 12 hours and so far I haven't noticed shortened battery life at all. Will report back later with more...

Do you leave 3G on all the time? I have JuiceDefender which turns it on only once every 15 minutes which might hamper my ability to use Viber. I don't have anyone to call/talk to currently anyhow

So what is the benefit of Viber over Skype or Google Talk?

I still can get it here http://www.viber.com/android-beta/

benefit is get your iphone mate call you because they dont have gtalk

On the iPhone version at least, free messaging.  Thats all I use it for since voice calls are rubbish.
