TheBartender:
jjnz1: Hopefully mine comes tomorrow, a nice white n97!! ill let you know what i think of it by the end of the weekend. Hopefully the menu speed is not an issue!!!

From who/where did you purchase yours?

Like to know where it imported from, if it has a standard NZ charger, and if it has Asian characters/keystrokes...

Dont think I'll be getting mine tomorrow as it hasnt been couriered yet. Hopefully they deliever Sat morn.

I got mine from Expert Info, $1406, dont think its the Asian one (hongkong) as they said it has an FM transmitter wihich the Hongkong one doesnt. Will found out though.

Last time I purchased phones from these guys, (an n82 and n81) they were imported and came with power adapters to use with the included power transformers.

The N81 was from Hong Kong and has Asian characeters on the keyboard, but the N82 is the euro model.

The N81 has just started playing up, the red call button doesnt work, so when i get the N97 and after i have had a play with it (and installed GPS tracker on it just in case we lose it or it gets stolen) , I will GIVE it to my Mrs (WHY?!!!) so her N81 can be sent in for warranty.

Not sure if I'll let her keep it and buy myself another one, or get her an N85 so i can have my precious back.

Sometimes life is sweet, y'know? Just got an email from Nokia today - they are sending me an N97 to trial :)

Soon I can take a picture with my N82, Xperia, i8910 and an N97 in one shot!

The N97 will be available from Nokia and Optus from Monday here in OZ so I assume the official release is not far away in NZ too. VFNZ however has always been slow to order and sell new phones...

Where did you settle on? And VF or XT?

VF

Was tempted to go with XT, but as I want maximum data, VF is not only the cheapest with its 3G data plan, but it also offers double data, as opposed to XT, which more expensive for the 3G plan, is more expensive for the extra data, and does not 'double' the data, only an extra 1G...which is not accepable.

Once I have mobile data, I will be ditching my home internet altogether, so I want the maximum data quota I can get, for the least possible dollars.

Expert Infotech

First time I ever dealt with them...so will see.
That said, first time I ever brought a mobile from other than a network operator (or Firstmobile)

How much did you pay and do they charge extra for credit card? I wonder if they are sending them from overseas or they have them in-stock.

heavenly_wild: How much did you pay and do they charge extra for credit card? I wonder if they are sending them from overseas or they have them in-stock.

$1395, and yes, they do charge extra for credit cards...2%

If you pay by cash or bank transfer, you get a 2% saving...I just couldnt be bothered.

Sub total: $1395
Postage - North Island Fast Courier: $10.95
Credit Card Surcharge: $28.47 (2%)
Total (Inc GST): $1434.42

They do have them in stock, white was available, but I wanted black, and they already had a new shipment of them due to arrive Monday...so while they do have them in stock, sounds like they are keeping stock numbers low (for obvious reasons)

I will update my expereinces with Expert Infotech as I find out...so far no issues.

Will wait and see if it turns up on time, what is and is not actually supplied, and if all the mobile features and Nokia services work in NZ.

As for ongoing support and warranty...hope to never have to find out the answer to that.
