jjnz1: Yer mate, use the nokia software updater, although, as soon as you connect your phone to the computer using ovi suite, it should come up saying there is an update available.

On another note:

I gave the n97 to my partner last week, but tonight she has given it back and told me she doesnt want it anymore!!! She told me that she wont even use her old N81 (also still has bugs w/ music player) and has dug up an old nokia 3315 -green screen brick!!

She now hates all new Nokia phones!! Good one Nokia!

I think tomorrow I am going to write an e-mail to Nokia NZ about how disapointed we are regarding Nokia smart phones over the last few years. I have owned lots of Nokia phones, and loved to use them, but I am losing faith.

If I buy a new car and something doesnt work, I take it back and tell them to fix it!!

Must say I was originally very excited about the product itself, but after the reviews it seems like it has become an absolute fail product, top this with the insane pricing of $1700. And here I was thinking that we were in a recession. As far as I'm concerned I'm never going to buy an overpriced vodafone phone again with their pricing strategy.

They obviously fail to see that the area to make money is off the data plan, these new phones are traffic dependent. Create a plan that doesn't suck and you'd make more money and customer loyalty over the 12-24 months with the data plans than you'd make with the markup on the phones.

NZtechfreak: Usually in Profiles-->Personalise (whichever profile has the keytones)-->key tones-->set volume to zero...

Yes, I thought so. I had mine set to "Off" but it still does the noise. However I've noticed that to activate a profile you need a SIM card inserted. Dumb.

If the phone is in Offline mode (which it will be if you have no SIM inserted) then you need to set them to off in the Offline profile.

What is the speed like for transferring files PC -> N97 via USB?
Is it slow like the other Nokias or is it quite fast like standard USB flash Devices?

Ah! That's done it, thanks.

That's nuts.

A lousy $120 subsidy...I am glad I did not wait now...
Even with the subsidy, parallel importers are still cheaper.
Latest price $1209
