Another OVI fail, I'll try OTA ...

Another OVI fail
Found the issue was that Outlook was open (what it is with Outlook is unknown as I synchonise directly with Exchange), full experience recorded here:

Well, to say I'm disappointment would probably be one of the greatest understatements. Dear Nokia software team, truely inadequate. Still unable to invite from calendar, no keyboard split display, the only fix I found was the double space issue some landscope input fields. Cleared by "Important Contacts" wedget and reset AccuWeaather to US defaults.

I can not express in a public forum how truely revolted I am with Nokia. To Owen, Paul, Cameron and Kieran, I am truely sorry for recommending this device.

Split screen keyboard was never coming in this update. Invitation invite works perfectly on mine, my flatmates and colleagues N8's/C7's.

The clearing of Favorite Contacts could be to do with the new Social client that was part of this update.

Note: I have a UK phone so maybe a feature variation, or perhaps I simply havn't worked how to use "invites" correctly? Is there a trick to adding invitees to a calendar entry?

Clearing of contacts was minor and easily addressed. I thought that the beta of the maps application was a taste of the coming keyboard feature, my bad.

ps. I want to love this product, it's my 7th nokia handset (in case you think I'm on some kind of hate campain)

As I stated when mentioning the update earlier (and is also very clear in cdouble's link above) the PR1.1 is a minor update only (hence the .1) bringing performances improvements and select fixes like the double-space issue and calendar invites. It also adds free games and upgrades to software such as QuickOffice giving you the full paid version for free which allows editing and pinch-zooming.

The major features that you're looking for, which as far as I know are similar but better than the implementation in Ovi Maps will arrive in PR2.0 (much larger version number = much larger updates).

I have the double space fix, but can't find calendar invites, is there a tip for this?

Does anyone know if all VF-NZ purchased N8s should have received the update by now? I'm still waiting for a notification (Have tried directly through phone as well as through OVI).

As we are running generic firmware internally our updates come out at a different time. The easiest way to check is to use the 'Can I Update' tool at http://www.nokia.co.nz/phone-update which will tell you when the software is released. The CODE it mentions should be on the box and on the sticker that was on the back of your N8 when you bought it.

Thanks Nik, that explains why you guys at Nokia have yours. Had already tried your recommendation, but to no avail. Like others, will continue waiting. Cheers.
