lyonrouge: So my N8 remains unable to connect to the OVI Store.

What's stopping you connecting to the Ovi store? Does the Ovi store app not work on your phone?

Have you tried connecting to the Ovi Store with Nokia Suite?  Another way to try is to go to the Ovi store with your phones browser ( I use Opera) or with your PC browser.  I'm assuming you already have an Ovi (Nokia) Account.

When going in via your PC you can then save to you computer then load onto the device with Nokia Suite. If it's an .sisx file I think you can copy it onto the memory card then click on the file and it will install the app.

Otherwise you will be sent a text with a link to download the app.

Have you tried topApps?, this is another way into the Ovi Store.

He's done a full hard reset and lost some of the essential QML libraries (a risk you run when doing the three button salute)
Those libraries are no longer publicly available but can be recovered with a hard FW update at a Care Centre

What do I need to tell the care centre to make them perform this action?

I tried to call in advance to identify the action I needed but ended up in a call centre somewhere. I then drove to New Market on my day off (they are only open Monday to Friday) and they sent me to a phone repairer in Newton. If I'm going to take time out to visit them again, I want to be sure I can articulate my requirements in Nokia speak.

If your phone was bought overseas I don't think theyll help you. Brent can you confirm if this is correct?

I had a problem earlier this year with an Ireland origin phone with a Euro product code and the Care Centre just refused to help at all.

OK, thanks. I've already relatively bricked the phone so I'll experiement with flashing from internet downloaded ROMs.

I had no problem with the Care Centre repairing my US sourced phone for me earlier this year.

I had logged a support request to the Nokia website & they had some one from the US call me & say they would arrange the repair for me with Nokia Care Auckland

Yup. I emailed them my receipt from Amazon. It only took them a couple of days to look at it & send it back to me

Sadly that won't work for me as mine is from a paralell importer in Glenfield and it's over a year old.

lyonrouge: Sure, if you work in CBD I can do easy.

@lyonrouge: I hope you do not mind me asking but did nztechfreak ever get in touch with you to try out his 64GB SDXC card in your N8?

If you don't get anywhere with Nokia care, pm me and I'll put together a guide on flashing with Phoenix for you.

Yes, I realised I could probably elevate it but I did not think it worth the trouble (the phone was out of warranty, only by about 2 weeks though) given the unhelpful attitude already experienced at the Care Centre. I have a lot of experience arranging warranties on nav equipment, radars, etc on new build boats  being delivered to owners in other countries and which often do not have international warranties and had always been treated well by the representatives in the destination country and easy to do for those.

But the NZ Nokia Care Centre just did not want to help at all even though I started out by saying that I would pay so was a real turn off to me after my international experience with marine equipment. Given that I just gave them up as a bad job and sent the phone elsewhere to be repaired. The phone still was not reliable after that so when I set out to replace it my carrier had a good offer but limited to an Apple (cheapest) or the N8 - I took the N8 as being the best of the 2 for my needs but if not for the offer I would have probably moved away from Nokia phones given the Care Centre lack of "caring".

nzmate: You can try Omni Tech to flash your phone

Do you know what they would flash it to? Voda NZ ROM?

Nop, MEA ROM

I also called the Nokia Care Centre and advised them of my problem and told them I am willing to send you the files and also pay for the service and they refused (The call centre was not in NZ so I think there is an issue here)
