Will cost you less to get a good indoor antenna than buying a new satellite receiver, and if your TV supports freeview then this might be a better option as it gives you HD

We have a 'bunny ears' aerial which we are using, but it is a pain having to adjust it for different channels.


I don't think my TV has an in-built tuner, but I will need to do a Google check on that one.


You must know, since you have been tuning in with bunny ears. Does it show DTV as well as ATV options / tuning in the menus? Can you receive any DTV channels with bunny ears? My workmate can, and he lives way out in Loburn (but with clear LoS to Sugerloaf).

We get 1, 2, 3, 4, very fuzzy Prime, Maori TV (is the clearest of them all yay tax-payer dollars), think I also saw fuzzy Shine and Canterbury TV.
I ran the auto-tune function and also tried manually, currently getting the best reception I can.
I am sure the TV is pre-2008.

That would indicate you are tuning analogue TV. If you had digital your TV would tell you if it's tuning analogue or digital.
Digital TV is crystal clear, pixellated or blank screen, never fuzzy.
If the TV has HDMI input then get a freeview UHF STB so you can watch in HD or better still, get a new TV (and an external UHF antenna).

The TV doesn't have any HDMI inputs.
Me and my partner aren't that keen for HD yet, so will just settle for a Sat. STB for the mean-time.
