Not sure if this is the right area for it, but the other day I went to Newmarket Noel Leeming and saw that they were selling a Diamond speaker pack.

I think its a basic model (fronts were 3ft tall), but might be better than some of the htib out there, if someone was looking to buy a surround sound set up.

It's a slightly odd pack eh? Normally it consists of 4 x entry level bookshelves, a centre and a sub...
But the inclusion of other fronts makes me wonder exactly what they've used... and, no, it's not a set of Diamond 10.4's or anything good. More like a re-badged Vardus I'm picking?
You'd expect the subwoofer to be a good performer if it was the same as the UK spec, but they (or the importer) has swapped it out for the craptastic Vardus unit. Doh!
Not much different from the Vardus pack really... and you can do much better than that if you look around.

Im glad its not me that thought it was an odd mix, esp with the Vardus sub.

I didnt think it was a great deal, but wondered if you were to haggle a bit to get them for $500 might be ok?

Dont know, just thought I'd post just in case.

I'm picking they sit somewhere in between the Vardus and Crystal pack then? Kind of a mongrel mix?
Pioneer do speaker / amp packs that will offer more clout me thinks... as will Onkyo etc?
And really, every time people spend $500 on a 5.1 speaker pack, well they get the sound they pay for. Sadly.
