Price for 10 is more expensive so just wondering if you guys have these speakers and help me decide. Thanks! Btw, hv salesperson could not tell me their difference aside from numbers....

From memory the 10.6 is just a upgrade version of the Diamond 9.6 i.e it has a some newer components over the older modal. I have the diamond 9.5's and they are a very nice speaker for the price. If you can afford it I would probably go for the 10.6 as I have read that the new 10 series are a very good speaker also. No real reason other then they are newer technology and Wharfedale basically shift their technology down from the higher end units as they make new advances so in theory the 10 series should be better then the 9 series.

depends on your amp. 9.5 has boomy (the good kind) bass. 10.6 has real exaggerated midrange. i tried both, sold the 5's and got the 6's . both have pros and cons, but the 6's very much clearer at the expense of piecing your drums if the recording has crap midrange.

9.6's had the larger bass drivers and a separate tweeter from memory.
I had both and loved the 9.6's over the 9.5's

IF the same numbering is used in the 10 series, then the .6 option would be worth the extra.
Definitely check the wharfedale website though for the exact differences/specs though.

Make an appointment with the sales guy, tell him you want to listen to both systems side by side, so you can work out which one to buy.

Get him to hook them up, and use a similar receiver to one you've got. Bring in your own CD, and give the two setups a listen. If you honestly can't tell the difference between the two, buy the cheaper one.

If you can hear a difference, work out whether the price difference is worth it for the sound difference.

Or better yet, ask if you can take both sets home for a listen in your own house. With a credit card swipe, of course, so he can charge you if you damage them.

actuallyi just remembered - 10.6 is same as 9.5, 10.7 same as 9.6 - get the new one if it is not much more expensive, because it is better internally. probably sounds very similarm, but they have upgraded components for sure.

(what i said about "the 6s" above refers then to 10.7 not 10.6 which are the new 9.5s - i think)

Thanks very much guys! Looks like they have cons & pros. I heard them both now. 9.5 is more with bass while 10.6 is clearer. Still trying convince myself if i would go with boom base or clearer sound....

To help you with your question - clearer or bass?

If you are going to be watching alot of DVDs and Blu-Ray movies then go for the Diamond 9.5 setup. Or alternately if you are going to be listening to mainly music, then the 9.6s would be better for a more sonic stereo reproduction.

If however you want to listen to both movies and music then I would go for the 9.5s over the 9.6s but that is just my opinion.

Injoy!

Yes - I bought the Diamond 9.5 setup and my Father owns the 9.6s. My setup is for 5.1 surround sound which is brilliant for wacthing DVDs & Blu-Rays. The 9.6s however are setup for stereo reproduction and are also very good. Great for listening to LPs and CDs.
