Topic # 77064 10-Feb-2011 14:19 Send private message

hi guys:

I have a 1.8m dish for c band asiasat 6 and recently added a small sky dish for freeview, I got the signal merged by using the 4x1 Diseqc switch to the DM500s, the lnb 0 on DM500s is set to be the C band asiasat 6B, and lnb 1 I set to be the freeview Optus-D1.

Asiasat 6B is working fine, all good, but I never got the OPTUS-D1 SNR pass 70%, the weird thing is all this is working fine on my old decoder but not the DM500s.

I think it must be a setup issue on the DM500s i am not aware of......

FYI
ASIASAT 6B  LNB0, 22hz on, voltage H/V
OPTUS-D1    LNB1 22hz I tried both on and off, voltage I tried both H/V and off.

OPTUS-D1 LOF I tried 10750 and 11300, threshhold I have tired 10750, 11300 and 11800.

appreciate your help.

thanks

Does it all work direct, ie individually with no diseqc switch in the equation?

I haven't tried individual dish without the switch yet, but I have tried on another decoder
it worked, I know DM500s is very picky on signal strength but seem pretty odd as I am pretty
sure other decoder showed 90% plus signal strength..... overall its optus-d1.

I will give it a try on the optus-d1 with DM500s alone, kinda sux cause my switch is placed outside house
and I will have to drag a long extention cord and cable etc......

cheers

I suspect that the DM500 is not able to make the DiSEqC switch change to port 2. You mentioned nothing about the DiSEqC setting so I assume you have it set up as "port B" or "port 2".

Unless you have universal LNBs I would guess that the LNB settings are meant to be:

22kHz = off
LNB low oscillator frequency = 10750 or 11300 MHz
LNB high oscillator frequency = (same as LNB low oscillator frequency)
LNB switching frequency = 0 or 12750

For a universal LNB you'd want something like:

22kHz = on
LNB low oscillator frequency = 10750 or 11300 MHz
LNB high oscillator frequency = (same as LNB low oscillator frequency)
LNB switching frequency = 10000

Why don't you try looking up the settings in your old STB and copying them to the DM500?
If you can't do that you should be able to read the LNB settings (or at least a model number which you can Google) on the LNB itself...

thanks for your reply mm1352000:

for the diseqc I put the C band lnb on 1 and Ku band freeview lnb on 4, on the DM500s I tried with
diseqc 1.1 with port 1 and port 4 for those lnbs and without any diseqc setting.

about checking settings on the old decoder yeah I have done that, the thing with the old decoder is you only need to set the frequence, say 10750 for the lnb, the rests are all preset.......

I dont think the freeview dish lnb is an universal lnb so I will try your suggstion of the 12750 or 0 on the switching frequency.

thanks a lot for your info.

appreciate it.

cheers

Ok picking you have an ex sky dish you're using for optus D1?
What shape is the lnb on it? round or oval?
