Hi everyone thought I would start this thread, how is everyone finding the coverage of the Rugby World Cup in particular the Picture and sound quality. So far I have been impressed!!I use MySky HDi , internal Freeview from my Sony X500 series LCD TV and Sony PS3 PlayTV, the home Theatre sound system is a Panasonic SCHT900 with Dolby Digital 5.1Firstly the sound, very impressed with this full 5.1 on all speakers which has fantastic ambiance making you feel you are in the crowd I especially like how the referee commentary appears on the front right channel a nice touch!!! Also lots of the music score in on the rear left and right channels..I only have one gripe sound wise I have noticed on Sky Sports 1 during the game it is in full 5.1 but when the adverts come on the audio switches to Dolby Digital 2.0 but the volume is way higher hence blasting you out of the room. has anyone else noticed this?Picture quality is also very impressive, it was interesting to note Friday night comparing TV1, Sky Sports 1 and TV3 (delayed) found picture and sound quality on TV1 looked slightly compressed, Sky Sports 1 looked great but what was interesting the delayed coverage on TV3 had the best picture and sound, I found the Sound on TV3 had lots more low end bass and sounded crisper.
How did everyone else go?

I dont have Sky or a home theatre setup... just a DVB-S2 sat receiver and have watched all the games so far by sat feeds and am impressed with the quality of the picture.

DVB-T recorded being played on a 14" laptop from Maori TV here (so the big telly can play something else) - bwhahah. Picture looks great.

Although on Friday night was in TV1 and thought to myself this was the first time I'd seen rugby in HD (no rich mans Sky tv here). It did look really good.

Sky - original format so nice on HDi.. of course somewhat crippled on SD digital sky
TVNZ opening - same raw feed so puuurdy and sounded good. Appart from the low level the commentry had from centre channel in AB game.

TVNZ Replayed/delayed games quite pixelated and ratty (much like SD Sky)

TV3 - nommy.

Theres a discussion in the TVNZ 5.1 thread about their level and apparent channeling differences from TV3s AC3

The Sky Sport broadcast is of an extremely high standard. Far greater than they generally provide to any of their HD channels - They're probably pumping up the bandwidth (or sucking it from other channels :P) for this event which is totally realistic.

For me the quality is on par with the Freeview|HD quality on select TV shows and news etc - Freeview HD generally looks better than Sky's HD.

One thing I couldn't help but notice last night was the fact Sky went to so much effort buying top notch gear, but it doesn't stop bars from feeding composite and RF feeds to their 50" Plasma TV's.

I was at 3 different bars last night and the fan zone in Wellington during the games, and the picture quality across every TV was terrible. Dot crawl because of composite feeds to the TV's, and even worse wavey lines from a RF feed are just inexcusable.

I would agree with that . Compared with TVNZs open game the surround sound and picture last nite was great. The surround sound seemed to get better in the second half. Pity that TV3 will not be showing much until closer to the end of the RWC..

They didn't do a very good job of showing the person doing the signing of the national anthem again!
It just happened to be my sister last night :D

The sub got a real workout with the crowd thumping etc. It was the first game I'd watched at home. Very impressed!
