Instead of music videos, I would suggest some good live concerts recorded on blu-ray.

Two recent ones I've watched

1) Adele - Live at Royal Albert Hall
2) phantom of the Opera - At Royal Albert Hall.

If you have a high quality display with great contrast and black levels, they really come to live.

Hitman.
There's 2 x different BluRay's on the market, both of which are good... the best one is the first Hitman.

Foo Fighters live at Wembley Stadium is an absolutely stunning concert on Blu-ray.

The picture is outstanding, and the audio is not too shabby either.

HTH :)

Ah... When I first bought a 32" widescreen TV (JVC, the first model available in NZ, back around 1999) and an Yamaha sound system with five speakers and sub, the thing to use and show off was... The Matrix on DVD, more exactly the lobby scene. Great when we heard the gunfight from all directions, the cartridges dropping to the floor, and the music.

it really depends on your musical tastes

The Eagles Hell Freezes over concert was regarded as one of the better DTS concert discs, that is ofcourse, if you accept that many of the purcussion instruments play behind you.

Neill Finn - Seven Worlds Collide. Neil and friends (including drummer from Radiohead, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam plus others) get together to perform some of Neills own tracks plus some classic splt enz and Crowded House tracks. Very good use of concert surround sound, band and singing all across the front, crowd and spatial effects on the surrounds, very good music too.

Pink Floyd - Pulse. Live concert disc with slightly higher bit-rate dolby digital track (640kbps), one of the encore tracks "Comfortably Numb" is just awesome, one of the best tracks Ive ever heard.

Pink Floyd - The Wall. DVD version of the film. great dolby digital track, excellent use of surround.

ACDC - live at the river plate Blu-ray. Proof that sometimes too much detail is not good, Angus's wrinkles really show off his age. Ofcourse the music and production is absolutely top notch as you would expect.

Fleetwood Mac - The Dance. okish picture quality (although recorded in non anamporhic 4:3) but excellent sound quality. Quality musicians who are having a ball on stage, final few tracks sound fantastic with the volume pumped up

Some music videos with good surround mixes that are worth checking out:

John Mayer: Where the Light Is

Steely Dan: Two Against Nature

Eric Clapton: Sessions for Robert J

Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon 5.1 (Immersion Box Set)

Queen: Greatest Video Hits 1 & II - Another One Bits The Dust & Bohemian Rhapsody in 5.1 are amazing

David Gilmour: Live in Gdansk

Peter Cincotti: Live in New York

Not videos, but great 5.1 mixes:

Lyle Lovett: Joshua Judges Ruth

Donald Fagen: Morph the Cat & The Nightfly (from Steely Dan)

The Eagles: Hotel California

Jeff Wayne: The War of the Worlds

Dire Straits: Brothers in Arms - Remixed in 5.1 by Chuck Ainlay

Agree that it will depend on your tastes. For me, the pinnacle music DVD that shows off my HT is Muse's HAARP show in Wembley. Pity they don't have anything on BluRay (yet).

Having a blu ray player, I've been astonished at the quality of sound compared with DVD. To illustrate this point, I play a scene from Fight Club. It's the one where Edward Norton's character imagines the plane is crashing. It's all quiet for a moment, then the chaos of the crash explodes through the speakers. On DVD, it's good. On blu ray, it blows it away. I crank up the receiver, and it's stunning. Never failed to impress anyone with that scene on blu ray, just for the sound.

I would say JB Hi-Fi if you have one in your area. And probably the warehouse too.

Have you looked at Amazon.UK?
They have cheap Blu-rays.
Same region as NZ
Fast delivery (I got BBC Planet Earth in about 5 days & at half the NZ price)

They also have free delivery to NZ sometimes.

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense on Blu-ray is the best I've seen and heard so far.
