My parents are off to the USA next month and I am looking to get them to buy me a gaming laptop.

Can anyone recommend a brick 'n mortar computer store around the Las Vegas area? Cheers.

Nothing there really. Don't try. The only reliable "computer store" around that area is the Apple Store in the mall across The Wynn.

Anything else will be overpriced, poorly supported.

I'm thinking of getting an Asus so it comes with global warranty.

Hmmm... any other ideas?

Could buy it online from the likes of Amazon, Newegg or something similar and have it shipped to their hotel address?

Shipping to the hotel is easy - have done this before.

Don't trust "Global Warranty". I had a Lenovo here shipped from Lenovo US for me, and when I need repair the local Lenovo said "sure, Global Warranty and all but... this model only exists in the US, can we send a a local, similar replacement model?"

I had an AMD with Radeon graphics and 500GB HDD, they sent me a slower Intel with built-in graphics and 320GBHDD. So much for "similar"...

Hi

I can recommend Frys in LV. Been there numerous times and prices were competitive, customer service is crap. As mentioned make sure warranty is checked out before buying.

Need a US credit card and knowing my parents if this isn't a simple process then it won't happen.

I don't think you need a US credit card to buy from Amazon and have it shipped inside the US.

Heavenly: I have spent tens of thousands with Amazon using a NZ card and a US Address (Hotel). I usually confirm with the hotel that they are ok taking deliveries prior to our arrival and then send everything there addressed to me - Guest Arriving x Date and the full address of the hotel. I've never had an issue. I've had Laptops, books, Electronics, baby gear, everything sent that way.

If you want more assistance feel free to contact me, or if you would prefer, then we are in Hawaii in October, and I'd be happy to bring it back, sans responsibility if we get pinged for tax of course.
