Hi
Recently, I bought a hp dm1-4035. I like it (kind of) but the battery is terrible and I'm thinking if buying a different netbook for 500-570.
Right now, my best choice is the asus eee pc 1225b. But the ram is not upgradable to 4gb.
What I need on my netbook:
A processor capable of playing COD:mw2 or something equivalent,
Graphics capable of the above ^,
Decent enough for collage/high school,
And Battery life from 4-6 hours.

If you can find something good for the money, that'll be great.

Thanks in advance

I don't have specific products to recommend. But I do recommend notebookcheck.net as the best website for checking what hardware should run what you want.

Their benchmarking of 'Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards' is particularly useful. You select the games you want to compare and each graphics card is colour coded for various resolutions: red=stutters, orange=low frame rate, green=good frame rate.

Their review of COD MW2 is from 2011 but it gives some clarity about suitable graphics.

It is pretty hard to find netbooks these days. Tablets have pretty much killed them off. Also, because Windows8 doesn't come in a Starter Version, the manufacturers are not that keen.

So, should a tablet be better for school or a netbook?

If you are going to take notes a tablet may not be ideal as you'd have to be a very good on-screen typist... Look at Ultrabooks - a bit larger than netbooks, but thinner, longer battery life and faster.

There a few tablets with keyboards around though - iPad has a keyboard attachment, ASUS has some tablets with dock/keyboard/extra battery...

That said if you ARE good at typing on a tablet then they're great for taking notes. I use my iPad daily for note taking and I can belt out text on the keyboard only slightly slower than a physical one.

Don't forget you can also get Bluetooth keyboards for most tablets.

I would be looking at tablets not netbooks. For note taking they are hard to beat and their battery life is usually fantastic. Good for games as well.

A decent ultrabook is nice but may be out of your budget.

Very true.
Of course i cannot purchase ultrabook (unless someone kindly gives me a link to a good $569 one), but tablets could be better. Like the asus transformer tf201. Its pretty good i guess, but im trying to find one for less then 500 and buy the keyboard seprately.
Anyone recommend a tablet (NO APPLE DEVICES) with a wirelsees keyboard (or maybe a ultrabook if you can)?

+1, netooks are pretty much on the way out. I still like them though. The problem with Ultrabooks is that they are very expensive for what they are, where netbooks are sort of tablet prices. Something like the chromebook type of thing maybe an idea, which is a low cost cheap ultrabook version, but they are still quite large. Netbooks are great because of their small size, although the keyboards are little cramped and are often underpowered with poor battery life.

If you're considering a tablet then you've blown your 4GB and COD capable requirements.

That being the case, just get the EEE.

I think it has been answered. Many manufacturers don't make them anymore, or if they still do they are likely to be end of line models, as it is an end of life product. Can';t see them on the dell website anymore, and they seem to have replaced them with ultrabooks.

You won't find anything that meets your requirements. Netbooks don't have enough grunt to run games as we only ever saw intel onboard graphics powered ones here. I would get an ipad 2, galaxy tab 2 or Asus transformer. You can buy external keyboards for the first two or save up a bit more and buy a transformer with a keyboard.

I have yet to come across a (what is defined as) netbook that plays COD:MW2 with a 4-6 hr battery life - it simply does not exist. Someone unfortunately sealed the fate of netbooks when he said they were "cheap" notebooks. but they do a great job being cheap notebooks. It is just not for what you are planning to do with it.
