I have had a Kindle DX since July 2010 and it works well but a bit big at times to carry.  I have an asus transformer with Kindle app but same thing. Since I had those was tossing up whether to get Kobo but in the end decided to go for Kindle touch.  Dick Smith wanted $339 for them so I thought I would buy direct from Amazon.  Have been with Amazon since 1997.  Anyway go through the process and it wont let me buy it. Says cant be shipped here.  I double checked and it was correct version.  Then I had duh moment, I can order through Geekzone link.  Exact same model, same price and it lets me order it.  $262 including shipping.    Not sure why I couldnt buy from my account direct but can through here.

So a big thank you Geekzone

someone at work bought one of those and says it is great. Not a lot of choice in NZ for cases!

Yeah, I got the "Kindle touch lighted leather" case through Amazon when I bought my Kindle through them earlier this year... works like a charm and *seems* to be the same as the one listed at DSE

Did you get the 3G Kindle? because the standard Wifi one is $208?

I think a lot of people get confused(myself included) with the Kindle links. You have to click the link at the top of the page that says:
Live outside the U.S.? Kindle Touch is available to ship outside of the U.S. from this page.

In blue, it's bloody hard to see! And very small, they should really make it a bit larger for international buyers

I thought the 3g would cover the bases.
I know I am losing sight a bit but even now I dont see that live outside us .    So I used the link through here instead

I got the base model shipped the "cheap" option, they still shipped it via DHL and it turned up 3 days later. Total cost landed was pretty much dead-on $190.

The genuine Kindle cases are stupidly expensive, especially if you buy them from a certain retailer in Wellington who are charging >$100 for them. They look like they've been in stock for a while unsurprisingly...

The Belkins look to be about the best option, still a little on the pricey side but still much cheaper than the Kindle branded ones. They seem fairly well made.

If you go to amazon.com, then go to the Kindle "store", if you click on either of the Touch models, the current pink line advertising mothers day stuff changes to a "If you live outside the US..." line.

Check the firmware when you get it too as there was a recent update that adds landscape support.

Those official cases are the ducks bits though, really good. Having seen one I'd recommend going that way.

At this stage I am leaning toward the one at Dick Smith. I think it is a genuine one.  Have seen other genuine ones on trademe but they are $119 on average.
