Sorry if this is in the wrong place...actually I'm not exactly sure anyone can help but it's worth a try. I have recently acquired my daughters iPod nano...yes I know old technology...but here is my problem. When I import an album into my I tunes library I tunes will sometimes single out one or two particular tracks from that album and create a separate folder for them. This is extremely frustrating as those tracks are then missing from the folder with the rest of the album in it! I have tried the apple forum to no avail. Does anyone here know what I'm doing wrong?? Hi,
I'm not an iTunes expert at all... but first, and always helpful on any forum - it helps to know what model device you're using (which generation iPod nano), which computer platform you're using (Mac, Windows, etc), which operating system you're running and which version of iTunes.
This issue sounds like the individual song files you're dealing with might not be 'linked' to the same album with their metadata. When in iTunes if you click on a song to highlight it, then click on 'get info' under 'File', you should be able to see which album it is linked to. If there is a slight difference in this data from song to song then it will be split into a different album from the others. You can select all the songs in a particular album (or that you'd like to put in an album) and choose to have them in one album or have matching artwork etc. HTH.

In itunes, click on Edit/Preferences then Advanced tab. Make sure that 'Keep my itunes folder organised' is ticked. This should keep them in the order thay have been imported and under the particular artist.

Also make sure that the info attached to each song in an album is the same. same artist, album, album artist, etc.

It sometimes can happen when you have an album where an artist does a duet on only one track etc. Eg, Imagine you're loading a Lady Gaga album, and one of the tracks she duets with Beyonce. Most of the album tracks will have "Lady Gaga" as the 'Artist', but on the duet track it might have "Lady Gaga feat Beyonce" as artist name, so that will be allocated to another folder.

What you do is, select ALL the tracks of that album in iTunes, right click and 'Get Info'. This will allow you to change artist/album name etc, but entering it in here makes the change to each and every selected track all at the same time, ensuring that all are the same. Basically what clicknz said above.

This is great advice. These Ipods are tricky little critters.Heaven knows what I would be like with an Iphone!! Thank you everyone for the help I really appreciate it Cool
