I have been asked to track the signal performance of Atrix 2.  Rather than just say it's good or bad I would like some kind of app to track signal with GPS locations every 10 seconds or so. I will stop logging when I am stationary. Then export the data in KML format or something. Anyone recommend a free app to do this?

Have a look at http://sensorly.com . It maps your network then uploads it to their site, from where you can look at coverage of all nz providers. Because other people have also mapped coverage their maybe already some data for the area you want.

Not sure if that's what you're exactly suits your need but is a nice app.

Or you could click the link up the top of Geekzone NZ Cell Sites Map :)

Or the links down the bottom of my Sig ;)

Check out my Mobile Cell Site Google Maps KML Files in my blog.
Now using Google Fusion Tables or Address Lookup or GPS using Smartphone
I update it on a monthly basis automatically from RSM.

I need to test this handsets ability within my area compared to other handsets. My current handset is abysmal where as others have little or no problem.

I don´t have an Android anymore but the app I used previously to do this was G-MoN.

I think this is what you are looking for.

Gmon looks interesting! Do you know where or how I can get a CLF of sites?

edit: Hmmm, bartenders fusion table from the RSM seems to have no correlation to androids LCID, CID or LAC.

That's somewhat annoying.

I cant recomend an app, but i can give you a possible clue -
The BBC has a tech show (forget the name) but its on the BBC world service at something like 3am.

Anyhow they asked their viewers to download an app so they could build a giant mobile coverage map of britian because none of the providers over there would supply maps.

As i understand it was quite a success with other sister shows on the BBC also telling people to download it and help out.

I'm only using the RSM supplied details.  LCID, CID and LAC are set by the provider and aren't returned back to RSM.

But happy to take updates if you have the values per network.

Hmmm i'd like to add these to the database. I'm unsure how to source it however. Antennas seems to have some information but its lat/long coordinates are off.
