old3eyes: A good plan but 5000 texts??

You need more?

Less.  It's a bit like skinny's 5001 texts .  Who apart from a spamer is going to use that  many??

so don't use them.

I've never understood the mentality that a plan is too good for you or has too much value

"Oh no, this really cheap plan gives me far too much [x]. how am I going to use up that much [x]??"

Thanks for the heads up ajobbins. I am happy that this deal has come on the day before my $20 talk-text-data package expires. And to top it all off just took advantage of the DSE recharge discount. Just a question though, I have cancelled my $20 TTD package with a day to run and at the moment Your Telecom is showing both allowances. Will it use the old one first until it expires at midnight tomorrow night? Not really a biggy, as as miserly as I am, I survived on 20min-1000txt-200Mb.

I wonder if the stars that aligned to produce this could also conspire to produce an NZ based call-centre and timely firmware updates..........

Edit: Though am I missing something here? Is there a difference between 'National Minutes' and 'Anytime Minutes'?

This makes my Smartphone $40 (50 minutes, 300 texts, 500 MB) plan look expensive... hopefully those plans will be adjusted soon too.

Edit: After thinking it through, the Smartphone plan is still slightly cheaper after taking the phone subsidy into account. A price drop would still be nice, but it's not as important as it seemed at first glance.

Also no one noticed that Sim Cards are now $5.

I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

They certainly seem to be taking aim at 2degrees at the moment, with this and the $5 sims (Including MicroSIMs)

I think it's mostly a reaction to Vodafones smart19 (clone of 2degrees 19data) and smart25 plans. Once they did this telecom was behind both competitors.

I guess that's the difference between proactive and reactive. Still I finally get to benefit from 2 Degrees' proactivity. So it's back to 2 Degrees to see what they come up with next......

From the T&C.
"If you cancel the BIG Value Pack or it fails to renew due to low credit, it will be lost permanently and cannot be repurchased after the promotional period"

What happens then. Is there going to be any other $19 ~ $20 pack or are you screwed?? The old $20 pack you could turn on and off at will..

Interesting to see

I have been recently eyeing up these $19 plans myself since moving off a Vodafone plan onto 2 Degrees prepay a few months ago.

With the lack of decent coverage around my house from 2D and comparatively high standard prices of Vodafone it now leaves Telecom as a very decent option for me, However the plan cancelling after being unable to be renewed is sad to see as it renders it almost useless to me because I am unable to predict when I'll be able to top up.

$10 Top Ups and $5 Simcards however are both very nice to see and something that would be nice to see adopted across the board, I seem to remember 2 Degrees having cheap simcards which does not seem to be the case now.

I just bought a micro sim from 2degrees for $5. How cheap were you wanting?

I paid $10 for mine and on the 2 Degrees site they are listed at $10-20.
