Topic # 108197 26-Aug-2012 06:23 Send private message

Hi there, I have a Samsung S3 NZ new on the telecom network with a telecom sim card. I arrived in colorado 5 days ago and my phone connected to AT&T and was able to make calls. We moved locations by 2 hours drive to where AT&T is available still but I get the above message.

your sim doesn't allow connection to this network

There are other kiwis here who are telecom customers using their phones on the AT&T network...we have a strong signal here. My phone shows a strong signal too but i get the message.

Any help Telecom?

Cheers

Open the SIM application from the menu and you can toggle roaming providers between "Telecom" and "Sponsored".

I had this problem when in the USA - worked in San Francisco and stopped working in Las Vegas. Other people here on Geekzone had this problem even in Australia and South Africa.

Once back in New zealand Telecom suggests you switch back to "Telecom" (although I didn't have to do anything).

For a previous discussion.

If you're still having issues try the Roaming Helpdesk:

http://www.telecomroaming.co.nz/

But as others have said the roaming menu and toggling between the Telecom & Sponsored networks normally sorts out the issue.

I work for Spark, but as always my views are my own.
