Hi everyone,

What sort of speeds are you all getting from XT these days? In the past I'd get several Mb/s on my HSPA+ device but now it tends to sit at around 1 Mb/s. I'm well aware that 3G suffers from congestion etc. but I'm just trying to determine whether this likely to be an issue with my device, the local sites (Whakatane) or whether those speeds are just normal now. While there's obviously no speed guarantee, Telecom might like to know if things are slower than expected over here :)

Maybe someone should tell Telecom that...

I'm on an iPhone 4S and just got 0.36 Mb/s down and 0.03 up. Yay.

Fair play! Seems a bit slack, it might not have been officially dropped then. Ive noticed that they haven't referred to the network as XT in advertising in quite a while which is why i thought they had dropped the name.

I got another local Telecom user to run a test and he's getting similar speeds. Does it sound like local congestion?

I should point out that I first noticed the issue maybe 1-2 months ago; it's not just something that's popped up today.

Well, it does seem that overall the speeds aren't as good as they used to be. It doesn't seem to be a local issue (and I suspect that my 0.36 Mb/s DL earlier today was just a fluke) so hopefully it'll be improved at some point. Roll on LTE, etc. Thanks to all of you for your results :)

It'll be nice to have LTE but that means an expensive phone upgrade. Most phones are HSPA+ already why don't they move to that now with the network they have now?? Like Vodafone and 2Degrees???
