Is the settings information via SMS available only for exact 'phone models available from Telecom? The subject 'phone is an HTC Touch Diamond2 T5362 (850/2100) running Windows Mobile Professional 6.5, with a NZ Telecom SIM installed.

The Telecom website
http://telecom.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1627/session/L3NpZC9DMW9xOUJVag== says:
"If you didn't buy your mobile phone from Telecom, you'll need to update your mobile settings to get TWorld and WAP. ... please contact our mobile helpdesk on 0800 800 163 and we'll re-send the text message so you can update your settings ..."

I rang 0800 800 163 and the CSO reported (after consulting the "Mobile Team") that they were unable to send the settings at present. When I asked if they would be available in a day-or-two, her reply was that they have been unable to send the settings since just before Xmas 09, and there was no ETA. However since others appear recently to have received settings by SMS for certain other 'phones, I wondered if in fact there is another aspect (ie non-Telecom-supported model).

Not all phones support settings via SMS, and some require specific message formats - it could be this.
f you need, there's a thread here on Geekzone with the configuration for XT - you just have to manually enter it.

Yes, thanks, indeed using those I have got well along the path (eg successful MMS etc) but still lacking completeness, specifically certain T-World aspects.

Following NealR’s info re pdaportal in http://www.geekzone.co.nz/NealR/6767 using connection “TelecomContent”  - that is, I have set “TelecomContent” (wap) as the default connection for programs automatically accessing the internet - I can see the “Your Telecom” page and account details. Does that indicate for certain that I am in fact correctly accessing wap.telecom.co.nz? I note that I did not have to go through the process of requesting a password.

When I set up “TelecomContent” there seemed to be no place to put the homepage URL http://myhomepage, unlike when I set up TelecomMMS (Homepage: http://lsmmsc.xtra.co.nz), or is it supposed to be set as the browser’s homepage? Trying that just accesses a search page as if it is not in the correct domain to access http://myhomepage.

In the T-World opening page, I cannot see the additional services Ringtones/Music/TV etc. But I now see NealR has explained in http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=39&TopicId=50092 that those services are not/will not be available (accessible?) on Windows devices whereas akia in http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=39&TopicId=57252 gave what seemed to me to be a slightly different explanation, ie that pdaportal is “filtered”.

As a side issue, the T-World frontpage is not rendered perfectly on this HTC TD2, either by Explorer, Opera Mobile 9.5 nor Opera Mobile 10 beta. The word “Telecom” (white) on the blue banner at the top of the page extends beyond the bottom of the blue background so the bottoms of the letters disappear against the background. Changing the text size option has some effect but there is not sufficient text size range available to eliminate the problem. On another smartphone running Windows Mobile standard 6.1 the banner renders perfectly.
