Flashcards: Well, I cannot tell you how angry at Telecom I am right now...

I got 'the letter' today telling me the plan is being discontinued. In addition, there were NO new plans offered but they 'suggested' I move to the Adventure plan. Not that I have much choice, in fact they are going to move me to it automatically by 8 Oct 2010.

So much for pushing all this great new online content (TVNZ on demand etc etc etc)...what's the point when you will blow your cap in the first week of the month?

Add this to the list along with the rise in GST and the ETS and wow, we have a trifecta folks! LOL. Sad indeed.

So much for Telecom being proactive on this matter. Business as usual I guess.

I guess I will be FORCED to look at other ISP offerings in earnest now. Bummer.

I feel you Flashcards, I also wounder myself, I blew my data cap in 3 days just for watching TVNZ because the TV reception here is s**t. I also play on the xbox as well and now I don't feel like going on it now because that blew 1/3 of my cap in 30 min.

As I stated rather bluntly earlier: Telecom has no interest in above average users as they are annoying and cost money. They will be more than happy to see  you leave. One of the actions to annoy the customer is not to come up with a 'peace offering'. or even a fair plan suggestion.

No, they rather see you go to another provider. That you will loose your photos on flickr does not matter to them. They want people who pay every month for something they do not use.

I am curious which personality will act in their upcoming ad campaign when it turns out they are loosing too many users.

BTW maybe we should all start sending complaining e-mails to ralph.brayham@telecom.co.nz He is the guy that came up with this idea.

I already sent a formal complaint via the Telecom website. We'll see if anything comes of it. I am not holding my breath at this stage. I tend to agree that high Bandwidth users are simply a thorn in Telecoms side. Then they and everyone else should stop pushing bloody bandwidth intensive applications!!!! Grrrrr....

so we have until the 8th october until they force us to move ??

hmm $20 credit per month if we change to PRO by the 13th august,
I might as well wait till the 7th October then move to PRO, would end up costing the same almost and I don't have to worry about DATA Caps till then..

Come on telecom, give us the Double Data plan on Pro for 6 months and keep some customers !!

I hate the way they perk new customers into Telecom, when they also should be also looking after and giving perks to the customers they already have.

This was the good thing about Actrix.  Whatever the new customers got, the old loyal ones did too!  And if the offer expired and you hadn't changed plans yet, the offer didn't expire on your end like BigTime has.

The way I read it you may be moved from Big Time > Adventure at any time between August 13th and October 8th and you only get the 3 months $20 credit towards Pro if you change plan yourself before August 13th.

Hah, I don't think so!
OTOH, are you guys going to be sucking down more than 500GB/month? Otherwise go with xnet that only charges $1.02 per GB..

Yep, after you pay $49.95 per month first for 0 gig
Then its $1.02 a gig
makes 40 gig = $90.91 per month

Telecom is cheaper @ $79.95 per month for 40gig

But for 60gig on telecom it's $120, on xnet for 60gig it's $110.. :)
So I guess it depends on how much you can cut your usage down after big time runs out..
