I've been really happy with the performance of my XT data stick, which sees occasional use when I'm away from home.  I bought one for my parents as well, to get them off dialup, and it's been great.

Both of us are sporadic users -- we have a burst of activity one month, and then nothing for 2 or 3 months.  XT's prepaid data plan suits that kind of user perfectly as we only get charged @ 10c per MB when we use it.

I have just resigned again with XT and upgraded to a new samsung smartphone.  I am not happy with the plans on offer though. I got the $80 plan so i could get the heavy new phone subsidy, BUT what is the use of 200 minutes, 300 txts and 1 gig data when the battery life of the phone is nothing short of a joke and makes it impossible to use what is on offer unless you are permanently tethered to a charger?  I would have prefered more txts and less minutes with the same amount of data.

This is my third XT phone and is spite of the above, I have no intention of moving networks, although I must admit the $19  degree offer did start to sway me!

sounds like your phone is faulty.  you shouldn;t need to be connected to a charger to use your phone.

You could have taken a cheaper plan and taken a text boost with it.
i.e. you got the $80 plan which gives 200 mins, 300txts and 1GB.  If you had taken the $60 plan with a text boost it would only have cost you $70 total, and given you 100 minutes, 2500 txts and 1GB of national data.  So you could get what you want for less than you are paying now.
