I follow Newstalk ZB on Twitter, a recent tweet says the XT network is "down again" in Auckland, saying there is some degradation on the network.

http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/newsdetail1.asp?storyID=196972

A message on the Telecom site says there's an issue but doesn't say where or provide much information.

I haven't had any issues, I'm on the North Shore.

I was on the shore all morning - starting 7:30am - couldn't make or receive calls until about 10 this morning.  Text and data was fine though...

Telecom have now tweeted there's an issue.

If there's an issue with calling, but texts and data are fine, then the network is hardly "down again". They're clutching at straws if they're trying to suggest this is a continuation of XT's earlier woes! Anything for a story I guess.

Hey guys - yes we do have intermittent issues across XT making calls. We're working on this as quickly as possible to restore full service. Data & text messages are still working. Will let you know once it's all back up and running.

Ha! Now Stuff is reporting it as front page news, describing the XT network as "beleaguered", and have opened the story up to comments.

No doubt this will trigger the usual "I hate Telecom" "I'm moving to Vodafone/2degrees" comments.

Yup, didn't take long:

"Customer Alan Young said he was "seriously considering" changing to the 2 Degrees network after having problems with XT this morning."

I reckon that the problem is, because the first few outages with XT were so huge and wide-ranging (remember one took almost a week to get sorted), now *every* little outage, no matter how tiny, will be put under the microscope.

Was effected by this glitch a few hours ago, dealt with it though.
Hardly going to consider changing telcos because of it. XT has always been the better network for me.

As if Telecom phones (well most of them anyway) work on the 2 degrees network.

Hi team - all services have returned to normal. The voice issues were caused by a software fault which has now been resolved and the network remains under close monitoring.

Data & Txt were not affected and remained working as normal.

Any issues or queries let me know.

Regards,
Amber Craig

And the next day, just the even the playing field, Vodafone was down, which also effected 2D and Telstra. No network can guarantee service 100% of the time. Breakdowns and outages happen.
