akia: We're working through with Samsung but we have no updates yet as to when we can expect to see this released.

Additional to this we're working very hard to try to skip the 2.2 update and to update straight to 2.3.

Thanks for the update Amber. Although it is not something we would like to hear, it is reassuring that work is being done and I9000T is not forgotten. I am also glad that it is straight to 2.3. Let's hope we get it before VF does. :)

Do keep us posted on any news that you may have.

Bung:
mxpress: Samsung have already done the bulk of the work by releasing the basic update.

Not many countries seem to have the official release.

Thanks for the link Bung, very useful!

Hi Amber I know the question must be getting pretty boring by now, but wondered if there was anymore news?

I have a Galaxy S here which someone i know still hasn't moved to despite getting it a few weeks ago, due to hearing such bad reports from other people about it, mainly from their workplace.

I have charged it a few times and put it on airplane mode, battery still drains very quick despite not being anything more than stock with the screen off. Its also quite laggy to use.

Perhaps cyanogenmod7 has spoiled me and their standard yet reliable Nokia e75 has spoiled them. This phone in its stock state seems to get quite negative responses.

I am also hanging out to get 2.2 or 2.3 on my Galaxy S. I rang telecom and they told me it was an issue I had to take up with Samsung. I rang Samsung and they told me they had released the 2.2 to Telecom ages ago and that Telecom were sitting on it and not releasing it. It is really anoying that this has been out for almost a year in other parts of the world and even on other Telecom handsets and yet they won't release it.
When I brought my Galaxy I was also considering a MotorRola Defy on 2.2. The girl in the Leading edge shop told me I could upgrade a Galaxy to 2.2 so I brought one only to find I couldn't unless I went for a hacked version. Not Happy!
I would love to know an ETA from Telecom on either 2.2 or 2.3. Just a date would be good rather than been left hanging.

Like i said telecom rom froyo 2.2 is around somewhere in xda forum.

I am completely not sure why telecom hasn't release 2.2 nor 2.3 yet but im pretty sure 2.3 will be release soon since they are releasing phones with 2.3 gingerbread (eg: Xperia Play)

I beg to disagree.  Best phone I've ever had. Awesome, in fact.  Even my son (an iphone nut) had to agree that it was pretty good and in some ways better than the mighty Iphone.   Pleased I was when he said that.

The batteries need charging everyday, but once you accept that, no drama.  I have  2 x spare batteries, desktop and car charger.  No big outlay, just means I don't have to worry about running out of power.

I still normally get through the day okay on one charge, with lots of surfing, texts and a call or two.  The spare are just in case, I have a long day / night which at my age doesn't normally happen anyway.
