As many of you Telecom customers out there know that Telecom - in the last few years or so - have been doubling and increasing the data of it's broadband plans.

For example when Telecom first started doing those TV ads of the 'Total Home Packages' with the ball pit in the house (if you remember) and that was about $100 for broadband and phone (10gb a month). Now 2-4 years later I can get $60gb a month data and phone for $105 a month. So if telecom keeps up there usual of increasing there broadband plans annually, what are your predictions for their broadband plans next year. Will we see fibre broadband or just more data for the same price?

I would be very interested in your thoughts and predictions on this.
I would hope to see $100gb data caps (and phone) for about $100-110 :)

Thanks,
~Aidan

We will see fibre in the next year because the UFB rollout is under way.

As for caps much of what any ISP can do is tied to the fully regulated DSL market that exists in NZ. IMHO we would be far better off in many respects if the Commerce Commission stepped away rather than forcing many of the restrictions that exist through regulation onto every DSL user in NZ.

but how much of that will change once Telecom and Chorus are separated?

It can't change - Telecom Retail is only a customer of Telecom Wholesale and Chorus and pays the same prices every other ISP does. Separation won't change this.
