Hi

My wife has just received a new XT handset for Christmas and has attempted to claim the Prepaid Christmas value pack of some text and voice and data for 6 months - http://store.telecom.co.nz/mobile/prepaidchristmas/value-pack

However - when entering the required details she is informed that the offer has already been claimed for this handset (IMEI). Certainly not by us it hasn't been!

Just wondering if anyone else out there has experienced any issues with this offer? I suspect what has happened is that someone has simply noted the IMEI of the handset - and others - as the sat in full view of the public in a glass case and claimed the offer on an existing number.

Obviously contacted support - who very kindly directed her to the same URL to claim the offer with the promise to investigate if that didn't work. It did not work still (funny that) and all attempts to follow this up with support have been ignored. Not even a message confirming it will be looked at. Very disappointing.

Have not returned to the store yet (Harvey Norman) - expected it to be simpler to get resolved directly with Telecom directly. That will be next given the lack of response from Telecom - not looking forward to that battle though!

Anyway - just curious to see if anyone else has had issues.

Thanks for reading :)

Hi there

If you wish, please PM (don't post here) me your Mobile Number (the one you want the packed loaded against, it just has to Prepaid, but not necessarily the SIM / number what was provided with the phone)  and IMEI including make and model.

I'll see what I can do for you.

Thanks nzbnw. Offer is very much appreciated. I have sent you a pm with details.

Fabian - hopefully you will be OK and this is a one off. It does seem to me though that the system is a little too easy to exploit? I guess most "Telecom" stores don't store handsets in a visible place like the mass market ones do.

Will keep you posted on how we get on anyway.

Thanks.

Long time lurker finally decided to register mainly due to having similar problem with Xmas pack and seeing this post. Brought Wildfire S on 23rd Dec to replace my cdma phone, changed phone number on new phone to old then registered online for Xmas pack. Got the $60 credit but nothing else ( my $70 credit is now only $30 something) Rang the help line woman tried to tell me some story about the sim card not being a "super sim"?. Anyway she transferred me to another dept (prepaid?) lo and behold after listening to the dial tone for a while my call was disconnected. Have now asked telecom by email whats happened but as its holidays I know response wont be immediate. After seeing this post thought I add my 2 cents worth. The new phone was a telecom one from noel leemings brought on 22nd Dec. The only thing I'm wondering is perhaps it will be activated now (1st Jan) so it starts on a complete new month ? My apologies that my 1st post is a bit negative It means I can get better tho.

Welcome!

Got the $60 credit but nothing else

Yes, these are two different promotions with two different processes, they aren't linked :)

AFAIK you should receive a response within 24 hours for email enquiries.

It doesn't matter, the pack is valid one month from loading, i.e. if it's loaded on the 16th it's valid until the 15th 23:59:59 of the month following (could be the 16th of the month following, I can't remember right now.

Let us know how you get on, you can PM me if you have trouble.

Mine worked fine for me, i was a little bit worried as the when i got the phone home i noticed that the box had already been opened.  Harvey Norman was way to busy to go back, the phone has been perfect since so not sure why it was opened.

Smile Apologies for dredging up this older thread but I'd just like to publicly thank nzbnw for sorting out my problem. Very much appreciated by a smartphone newbie.

@nzbnw - thanks again for your assistance and follow up on this one, I'm back in the "real world" now - whatever that is.
Yes - all sorted now and the wife is very happy with the new toy :)
Still none the wiser as to what the underlying issue was here - but glad to have it all sorted and really appreciate your prompt and useful assistance!
