As the title asks... where have they gone? The Netcomm devices are no longer listed. Are there new devices coming out?

That's a bit weird, but I see what you mean. I will chat with the content folks and see what's going on. I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

Thanks mate, appreciate it. I was recommending this solution to my folks only to find that it has disappeared. I gotta say since owning the Netcomm device 1.5 years ago, it's been one of the coolest and most useful gadgets ever!

The Pocket Wifi 2 from Vodafone AU is the device to get. http://dicksmith.com.au/product/E6780/vodafone-pocket-wifi2-pre-paid-broadband $39.50 AU, $20ish to unlock via a 3rd party, supports all 3 NZ 3G frequencies (850/900/2100MHz) so able to be used with any of our operators.

johnr: This feature is now coming standard on many handsets Yep.. but handsets don't tend to have a RJ45 Ethernet connector which can come in handy.. ;) I know this link was there on Monday when I went hunting for a customer who made a bit of noise. Those netcomm pocket wifi devices are really good in many situations. Excellent signal strength and speeds in areas where phones fair much worse. Really handy for people who are roaming from overseas, throw one in the pocket, and you have local mobile data plus you can still receive your roaming texts and calls.

I have had to mobile hotspot from one phone to another to get around the retarded 50 meg upload limit on the android youtube app. One of the mifi like devices would have saved a little hassle. Richard rich.ms

I realise many handsets can create hot spots but that comes at a price - battery life. Plus with a separate device you can choose who you go with for data.

I've spoken with the product people and it seems that the Netcomm router went "end of stock" as of Friday so it's no longer being sold online anymore. There are plans to sell another device in the future but no specific timelines as to what the device will be and when it will be released. I went into the Telecom Retail Store in Wellington (04-472-3677) and they still have the routers in Stock. Plus I would suspect other Telecom Retail Stores still have them too. Worth ringing around and asking if the store still has one in stock. Also if battery power wasn't an issue you can get the TG582n might be the go for you. It's a standard DSL router that also has a USB port to take Data Sticks such as Sierra 306. Once any more public information is available you will probably find out about it the same time as me :) I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

I bought the Netcomm device a month ago, with the free 2gb data, and I LOVE IT!!!
