heavenlywild: Thanks for this. Last night I spend time on ebay looking at options and came across the same device, but an upgraded version with quad band, which means it would be compatible on any network in NZ. I wonder if Telecom will be getting these in.

It's a surprise that a major product goes out of line before knowing what the next refresh is.

Found some more information about that.  All I can say is watch this space.

I understand you may not be able to disclose the information on the device yet but can you provide an ETA?

As soon as anything is posted on the www.telecom.co.nz site is as soon as I am able to share anything.  Mobile Device's aren't part of my area whatsoever and normally I find out when they are publicly launched anyway.  I quite enjoy my job and posting anything that isn't public tends to jeopardize that.  I hope you understand.

As soon as I hear that any new mobile wifi devices has been posted publicly then I will update the thread :)

I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

I think this might be the wifi hotspot rollout telecom are planning?

scottjpalmer: The Pocket Wifi 2 from Vodafone AU is the device to get.

http://dicksmith.com.au/product/E6780/vodafone-pocket-wifi2-pre-paid-broadband

$39.50 AU, $20ish to unlock via a 3rd party, supports all 3 NZ 3G frequencies (850/900/2100MHz) so able to be used with any of our operators.

Im interested in getting the pocket wifi2. Can you order from DSE AUS? (NZ delivery)

Is there any place in NZ that selling them?

I doubt DSE AU will deliver to NZ.

Not officially, try the parallel importers.

I have bought a couple of the Pocket Wifi 2 (850, 900 & 2100 3G) from Vodafone AU. Once they get here and I unlock them I will be selling one to share the costs of freight and unlocking. Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers for posting the link.  I saw it announced today but wasn't sure when the link was going live.

What is the point in being quadband for an XT device?

Is there also an older tri band model which doesn't include the 900MHz 3g band?

As this seems to.

Based on the model numbers on the bottom of the first page of this http://media.netcomm.com.au/public/assets/pdf_file/0011/40304/MyZone-N3G24W-Spec-Sheet.pdf

It looks like this http://www.netcomm.com.au/netcomm-products/3g-mobile-broadband/3g24w has been upgraded.

There isn't another quad band device on the market in NZ so Telecom may make a few sales even though the device won't end up on their network :-)

GREAT VALUE PREPAID KIT - this T-Stick comes with a FREE SIM loaded with 2GB of data (valid for 60 days) to get you started.
 Incl.SIM Pack & 500MB Credit

According to that it has both 2gb preloaded AND some credit on it. And its not badly priced at $169.

edit: And now i notice this must be an old copy paste of old info, because it says:
As a special offer - to help you get online in your first month – we're including $29.95 of credit on the XT SIM that comes with this device.

500mb has cost $25 for quite a while now. Or do they still ship $29,95 credit regardless? I thought that this disappeared when they started preloading 2gb.
