Topic # 99953 30-Mar-2012 15:31 Send private message

I checked my usage this morning and had used about 240 MB of my 500 MB plan. Then a couple of hours ago I received a text from Telecom saying that I'd used 80% of my limit! I looked at the usage meter again and it was at about 420 MB. I've just checked a third time and it's now reporting 485 MB used.

All I've been doing today is using Google/MSN messengers and have watched a single YouTube video (and even then, I only watched the first few seconds and closed the app before it had fully loaded). There is no way that I've chewed through ~250 MB by doing that.

Is anyone else getting unusual readings from the meter?

Their meter is dreadful. It isn't close to real time so last month I went over my 2GB allowance on the last day even though I thought I had over 100MB left.

Meanwhile, I've supposedly used a further 55 MB in the past hour, again only with MSN (imo app) running. I'll reboot the phone just in case it's doing something in the background, but the "data spinner" thingy up the top (iOS) isn't there and I don't have anything bandwidth-hoggy running in the background.

Yes a few days ago my meter showed 244 megs left so I tethered it to my PC and made a 30 min Syke call.  I then went over my 1 gig allowance by 18% and got an additional $25.00 data charge for my troubles.

No problems that I can see. I just switched to XT today though.

It's stabilised at 596 MB so hopefully that's the end of it. I've been with Telecom for 3.5 years and this is the first time that I've seen this happen.

I've given up with the usage meter on XT, half the time it's 4-8 hours behind current usage, such a PITA.
