Telecom have launched a new prepaid add on pack, available for a limited time (Until 31 Oct).

Looks as though as long as you sign up between now and the end of Oct, you can keep the plan as long as you keep your phone topped up enough to let the pack auto renew. If you cancel or do not have enough credit to renew, you won't be able to sign up again after 31 Oct.

This is a fantastic value plan, and exceeds even the XT $40 postpaid smartphone plan in everything but data (500mb vs. 400mb).

Hopefully this is the start of some great value plans to come to the XT network.

Like everything about the plan but if it fails to renew due to low credit, it's lost permanently. Does telecom have auto topup feature?

Less.  It's a bit like skinny's 5001 texts .  Who apart from a spamer is going to use that  many??

johnr: Teenagers

In that case I guess teenagers will use the skinny plan of 5001 / week at $4 which = 20004 / month for $16Wink That should give them RSI..

I remember my younger days when Telecom first restricted '$10 text' down to 500 or 1000 texts or whatever it was. Teenagers all over NZ (myself included) were outraged! It was going to be a big adjustment to limit ourselves to 500 texts.

Nowadays, I probably send barely 100 texts a month. My calling minutes used have far exceeded my text messages sent for some years now.

I'm hoping 2degrees will improve the $19 plans to compete.

You've got 3 days to topup before it expires fully, during this time you're sent quite a few text messages informing you to topup.

It will only expire if you let it expire (eg, ignoring the texts with no credit on the phone)

Excellent, called telecom and had my smartphone double plan removed. I think i spoke to someone called JC? not sure, but they were extremely helpful and enthusiastic that i'd joined the plan so quickly.

I find that reasonable. Thanks. Hopefully telecom implements an auto top up feature as well like Skinny and 2Degrees.

Get down to your local dick smith today, they have a special ending which is 20% off phone topups. Buy $60 topups, thats 3 months of this plan sorted. For $48 a piece. Which makes this plan work out at $16 of actual money spent per month. Can't beat that.
