Hi Guys,

Just trying to work out under what circumstances you would receive this as an email.

From our Mail logs, it looks like one of our staff got an email from 027XXXXXX@lightsuft.xtra.co.nz

Then our systems tried to deliver an Out Of Office back to that and keeps getting bounce backs.

How have they sent it to his email address from a text is what I'm trying to work out. eText works the other way and only allows text so don't think it's that.

The phone is an iPhone 4s if that changes anything.

Thanks,
Alex

It's simply somebody who's sent an MMS message to an email address.

What that would be is the user that has sent the picture opted to send it to an email address and not a phone number, which is perfectly possible. You would have to ask the sender why they did it that way.

That happens if someone sends a photo message to an e-mail address.  So I would contact the 027 number and ask them what photo they were looking to send.

I'll check the source e-mail address as I don't think it resolves to a real e-mail address as it's not eText service it's the Photo Messaging service (MMS) that allows you to send Photo Messages (PXTs) to other mobile phone numbers or E-Mail addresses.

Does that make sense?

I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

Yes this was always part of the MMS spec, Instead of putting mobile number in the ' To ' field put a email address it's routed via smtp
