Just wondering when Telecom will be releasing Android 4 for existing Galaxy S2 owners. It's included in new S2s but it certainly isn't available through the usual upgrade channel.

Depending on your circumstances you may want to think about rooting your phone and updating it yourself - I wouldn't rely on Telecom getting jelly bean out in the near future. I upgraded my SGSII to Android 4.1.2 on 17 November and am absolutely loving it - but not as much as my 7 month old who can't get enough of the jelly bean dreamscape :-) Chuck Norris has abolished the periodic table of elements. The only element he recognises is the element of surprise!

Thanks. It was a thought but I look after a few S2s and I'd like a quick way of doing it (ie just click on Update) rather than going the rooting direction, which may cause you to get deprived of Telecom support.

Are you meaning 4.1 aka jellybean or 4.0 aka ice cream sandwich? Because ics came out about mid-year as a telecom update. I downloaded the update for Dad's S2, and I remember there being a long thread on geekzone about when the update would finally arrive, and it ended with the update arriving.

The 4.0.3 update was release back in April and there was a further update after that as you can see here: This should be available to all Telecom sourced i9100T's by going to Settings >About Phone > Update Devices: Samsung Captivate (AT&T Galaxy S) and HTC One on Telecom. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

johnr: If you are meaning Jellybean 4.1.x I would be amazed if you see it I don't think the OP meant JB since they referred to the update already being on new S2's. However when it comes to JB there is no excuse for the networks here to not release it as an update when Samsung do which shouldn't be far away. Devices: Samsung Captivate (AT&T Galaxy S) and HTC One on Telecom. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

4.0.3 is already approved for the S2 and is available through the usual upgrade paths. Let us know if you?re having problems with that. To get to 4.0.x you need to update via the Kies. This will then allow you to update to future releases over the air or via Kies. In regards to 4.1, we are working on it, S3 we hope to have that out before Xmas and S2 is being worked on but no confirmed timeframe at this stage.

I've gone into Kies Air and connected my S2 and the PC, and I can't see anything system-related (apart from a file explorer) on the Kies screen on the PC. It seems to be just messages, contacts, etc etc. All info gratefully received.

From memory theres an option under one of the menu items along the top, back up and upgrade or something like that. You purchased your S2 from a Telecom store - correct?

You can't upgrade OTA or via a Mac. You need a Windows PC with the full version of Samsung Kies installed for the 2.3 -> 4.0 upgrade on an SII. Once you've upgraded you'll be able to get future updates OTA directly on the phone. Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat New Zealand as a Solution Architect for all things Linux, Virtual and of course Cloud. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

I ODIN my S2 to 4.1.2 JB .. and it is GREAT !! Build number JZ054K.I9100XXLSJ, original JB and not those rooted. and i find battery life last longer (though i had it change to 2000mAH a year ago with i was still running GB) you guys should try, don't worry you won't brick your S2. check XDA forum ...
