Had a box pop up asking if I wanted to help out by filling in a geekzone customer survey. Is it legit? Or just some scam spam ad? I normally assume anything like that is trying to harvest spear Phishing info, so I ignore them, but if our host says its on the level, I'll be happy to put in my 2c.

It's legit. If you have already clicked "No, thanks" you won't see it again, unless one day you clear your cookies. I didn't click "no thanks" I just closed the window with that thread in. If it comes back, I'll fill it out, if not, well, I can't be arsed clearing my cookies. Sorry.

He probably thought it could be some code injected into our pages by some malware on his PC, or a compromised server? Although the survey is using our logo, so it makes it harder to be an "impersonation". If the survey is on GZ then why would it be phishing? That's the spear part of the spear phishing, they target their marks better. I'm sure half the people on this forum could work out how to make an ad aware of the site its appearing on and paste in the relevant chunk of the URL to make an ad look like an official message. Our spam blocker stops an awful lot of emails which purport to be from the IT Dept of my company.

When in doubt, don't click it. Then after I had killed it, I thought again and decided to ask.

just popped up for me, asked me "What country do you live in?" It lists 4 quick countries at the top of the select - United States - Canada - Australia - United Kingdom is this the legit one? shouldnt NZ be the default/top of the list??? www.reven.co.nz

sigh Yes, a lot of people complained about this years ago (it's not the first time we're running this survey). Those are the countries they list first in their template, what can we do? I actually wanted to remove the country question altogether but can't... sorry i thought it was a custom one someone from GZ wrote, so thought someone might of jumped on this to make a phishing survey. www.reven.co.nz
