Hi,

In the past week or so, Geekzone has automatically logged me out with a "something has changed" message (I think the error page was IPChange.asp or similar) several times across 3 or 4 different devices. Is this a new page that was added in the past couple of weeks or is it just being triggered more than it used to be? I don't recall ever seeing it before but now I've had it maybe 5 or 6 times in a week. Is anyone else running into this?

It's nothing browser-specific because I've had it with Safari, Firefox and the webOS browser.

Have you updated these browsers? Have you changed the user-agent for "testing"?

Yes, I have had it too... Safari on two different devices and Firefox on a PC

To implement some of the changes we've made to security last week I've reset EVERYONE's logged in sessions. So that would account for ONE request for login.

Since then you shouldn't see this happening again unless:
  • You have updated your browser
  • You have changed the user-agent string for testing while logged in
  • You have "Logout my session if my IP address changes" checked in your profile and your IP address changed

Also note that if you have installed any "cleaner" and cookies are being removed (or browser no longer accepts cookies) then sessions will not persist.

Happens across 4 machines runnning FF or Chrome, none have had browser updates for some weeks but are current, no user agent changes have been made on any especially the work ones which are all locked down, but it just started a few days ago.

Nope, at least not Safari/webOS.
Nope.

I will add some traps into the code later to see if what's causing the session timeouts.

For one the logoff we can say it was the mandatory reset.

For the other desktop resets I suspect it was the background updates modern (er, not IE) perform - Firefox just started doing it and Chrome has been doing for ages.

For mobile device I suspect you folks have checked the "Browse as desktop" at some point then changed to mobile, or vice-versa.

This is now hitting me in anger - every time I visit the site from a different IP I get logged out.... and I have the checkbox turned off. Perhaps a recent code change has broken this?

I haven't had it again since posting this thread, but I'll let you know if I do.

It must be something else - perhaps you have an AV that is cleaning cookies, or your browser is set to store cookies for the session only, or a proxy causing this.

I know for certain is not our code because for the last four days I have an email trap that notifies me of sessions being logged out due to IP change - and YOURS IS NOT SHOWING UP IN THE LIST.

Hi, all I can say is that I am still continually being logged out, this is across a number of machines, and my two work ones that are behind a static IP and no changes to the browser config (I am banned from tweeking my machines bah) plus all my machines at home that still have the same allocated IP from some weeks back, no updates or changes, this includes win7, XP, IOS and Android devices.

Edit, my phone I accept as this is roaming from Voda to work Wifi, to home Wifi, the rest are not.

This is all a distinct change in behavour that is not as per before.

As I said, you're in the same situation. I am not receiving notification of these here. Clean your cookies and try again...
