Has changing the geekzone forum engine ever been discussed? What about vBulletin? Any other suggestions? How about we have a poll? Can you do that in this forum? Visit My Blog!

Hmm if you guys had a look here it has been in the pipes to change the look and feel of the forum. It has been discussed in great lengths Z10STL100-2/10.0.10.690 and loving it!

Changing the look and feel of the forum has nothing to do with the software behind it. There's no intention to change the forum engine, neither the database or OS supporting this site. I'm not refering to look, geekzone could be made to look good even with this software! Feel is more about features and I bealive you would need to change the software to effect that. /me stands clear and wears rubber soled shoes for extra safety... Why? Is this a sensitave topic? Or would transfering to another engine be just too hard? Anyway I see there is another thread already. Visit My Blog!

Adding features to any software is possible. It is just that we have to decide priorities. None of those other software offer everything everyone wants. It surprises me that you can say that to add features to this board we must change software - without you knowing exactly what's running behind the scenes! It sounds like those consultants that come around some companies and say "Process A with software B will solve your problems" - even though there are no problems to be solved and the consultant always recommends the same combination regardless of the company in case. For feature requests please follow up on the other discussion which is more about "features" than about "platform". It just happens that this is the kind of discussion that is internal. What platform, database, forum engine is used is decided internally, not in a public forum. As I said feature requests are welcome. How we decide to implement these is based in factors that are known only to people close to the operation. Not necesserialy change, as in swap out, but make changes to (code); then there's no point dressing up an old chicken. Anyway it sounds like you guys have it fell under control. :) Visit My Blog!
