The Search fields and 'What are you doing' update fields are very close together and I often type in my search term into the wrong box, then it takes me a few seconds of nothing happening before realising my numptiness.

Does the status update it only work if you have a facebook page aswell? I don't see anything changing after changing my status to 'VoIP'

The Status entered there is visible to your Geekzone Friends. If you have a linked Twitter account the status you enter there are also sent to your Twitter feed.

You can disable the field from your User Profile.
