oxnsox: Call them and ask...

If you're currently a customer on another network.... 'they-want-you'
If you're currently a customer on their network..... 'they-want-to-keep-you' (but sometimes it's harder for you to get them to understand that. Guess there's a lot of folk who cry 'Wolf'.)

As Paul Brislen said "..Telcos are coin operated."

Yeh I called them, 3 people all said "Cant beat that deal, go with 2degrees then" and none would transfer to retention/save team since I dont currently hold an account with Vodafone. I said I'd consider signing a term contract but they refused to even help.

"we have the Smart 45 plan yes, but we cant do anything, what you see is what you get"

Hello all,

just reading this thread I thought I'd throw in that every situation is treated on a case by case basis and the offer you receive may differ from what?s been talked about.

The big lesson is that if you are dissatisfied or contemplating leaving Vodafone for any reason call us before you do, we want to know what we can do to help you before you make that leap. Often an issue is not that hard to fix and we have people that are passionate about getting it right.

Sorry, but this isn't how most customers think. I and my partner just switched to Telecom after purchasing iPhones because Vodafone's plans are so much worse. We'd both been with VF for over a decade.

It is not our responsibility to call and ask for better service. It is Vodafone's responsibility to offer competitive products to all their customers, not help only those who bother complaining. This is why you're losing customers.

What plan did you get on Telecom?

TalkTextData. It's a pre-paid plan. $20 for 20 mins, 2000 texts and 250MB of data. I'm a pre-paid guy, don't want to spend a lot every month, and with an iPhone need more data than Vodafone's equivalent plans were offering (to get that amount of data on Vodafone pre-paid I'd have to spend $45).

Ok, I thought there might have been a new plan I was unaware of. FYL for $45 I get 100m, 2500txt, 1.250G data one best mate, and free calling between others in my group.

See, I'd happily pay that price for that. But all the people I've spoken to at Vodafone absolutely refuse to do it. I know quite a few people leaving vodafone, and they're still a business as far as I'm aware, so would still need paying customers. Keen to move to Vodafone, but at this rate it doesnt look like that will be happening if they're this picky about who they want to offer their services too.

Why not go 2Degress then, you get almost as much data and way more minutes for $39.

Why does every situation have to be treated on a "case-by-case" basis? What is a variable here that leads to this? The amount of nagging a person is prepared to invest in order to get good value for money?

I still remember the days of $1.20/minute on prepay ...

Obviously I swtched to 2D as soon as they came to market and they give me a good deal without me having to be transferred to "retention team" ...

VF has been in the market for ages, have the infrastructure and still manage to get beaten by novice company ON VALUE! That goes without even mentioning SERVICE. BTW do VF customers still have to pay to speak to a real person in customer service?

Pay to speak to a real person?! WHEN did we ever have to do that?

Same here, I switched to 2d instantly when they launch in 2009, that is after being with Vodafone for a decade.

I think I would prefer a company to offer value products upfront to all potential and existing customers without me having to call them and ask them for a deal.

Spong: Why didn't Vodafone offer you this until you blackmailed them into moving to 2Degrees?

2Degrees have just extended their 1GB national bonus data to existing customers on the $39 plan or higher to two years, and we didn't even ask for it. 2Degrees won't even force you into a contract period to get this. You'd get equal coverage but not your best mate, but go some way towards helping to give the big two dominants the middle finger. If it was me, I'd have shifted in a flash.

vodafone have better coverage than 2degrees.  i'm thinking of switching myself, but the cost is quite a lot more...

ringing up 2degrees went nowhere about coverage, .. and they can't do any kind of coverage booster or anything, or fix up the roaming to vodafone's network.

i used to somehow believe that 2degrees would have as good coverage as vodafone.  but it's just not the case.  both me, and other people who visit me, have found that 2degrees doesn't work where vodafone does.  under available networks it says: 2degrees GSM, vodafone WCDMA, telecom WCDMA (but greyed out).  But if selecting vodafone it says "unable to connect".

i had problems at a previous location too.
