Hi All,

What is the maximum non-DC 3G speed that you can realistically get on Vodafone.

I am interested to know as I connected my Ipad at home in Patumahoe, which is 10km from Pukekohe and  ran a speed test with the result of over 8MB/S which seemed to be quite quick, I also ran a speed test at work in Penrose and only achieved a speed of 4mb/s which is the same as my iphone, I assume from this that there is no dual carrier on Walls Road Penrose!

I know a little more than nothing but not much...

I use to live very close to Patumahoe and know it well, I was on Helvetia Road Pukekohe

Max speed non Dual carrier depending on site config is 21Mbps DL

I am sure the Patumahoe site will get some DC love in the future

What iPad are you using?

Hi John,

I have the 4th Gen I am not worried about the speed as my home line is around 4-6mb/s usually so it is still faster than that, and my iphone4 at home gets about the same 4-6mb/s on 3G, so I assumed that it may be actually getting dual carrier at the moment.

I was more interested that at work in Penrose the speed is significantly slower!

Penrose has many more users attached to the site than rural Patumahoe

It will also depend on the site you are connecting to in Penrose quite a few out that way

Maximum speed depends entirely on the site configuration. In the ideal world on a lightly loaded 21Mbps HSPA+ site you would get ~15Mbps. There are plenty of reasons this won't always occur.

As you're probably aware, the iPhone 4 has a theoretical HSDPA maximum speed of 7.6mbit and no DC, whereas the iPad 3 and 4 are capable of much greater speeds, so it's not a strictly fair test :)
