Alright, I think I see where you're coming from, though as you say, "duped" may not be the right description to use. Have you changed your iPhone bestmate to one of the family members for the interim?

Vodafone Family plan update for the iphone plan

Now all new and existing customers with an iPhone plan can buy the Vodafone Family Add-on as part of their plan.
